good. Staff accomadating. Didn't have coupons most clients had for meals, otherwise great stay and hotel.

Very nice hotel. Nice pool and big hot tub. Very clean and comfortable. Front desk staff both during check in and check out were friendly and professional. We wre there for a regional volleyball tournament on the weekend and did not have time to enjoy the bar or the restaraunt unfortunately. Easy access to the tollway.

Excellent place to stay. The hotel beds were comfortable and the perk of having a Bennigan's attached to the hotel was convenient after a long day.

Good stay for a family weekend trip to Elgin. The pool is nice, rooms are clean, right off the toll road and close to the Grand Victoria Casino. Not too far from other attractions.

We are regular guests at this great hotel. It meets all our needs-close to I-90 Tollway, great places to dine, very quiet . Staff goes out of their way to help guests feel right at home! Rooms are very clean, beds are gigantic and very comfortable! Whenever we must travel to Northern Illinois- The Holiday Inn & Suites is always our first choice!

It was a great hotel. The ability to get a quick late night snack at Bennigans was handy. I have stayed in other hotels in the area but this location was the quietest. AND convenient to the gas station and Dunkin Doughnuts across the street.

Staff was VERY friendly, rooms extremely clean and nice, very very happy with overall experience and breakfast buffet was great. Highly recommend! PS: I saw on some webite that were doing construction, however when we stayed July 15, 2012, it was done and you'd never know they had anything going on.

The hotel was is great condition and modernized. We loved it! The only disappointment that we had was that the pool was not open at the scheduled time. With two small kids we want to swim right at 7 before heading back on the road for home. But the pool wasn't going to be ready until at least 8-830. My two year old was bummed that he couldn't swim :( […] And - this is why we switched to the Holiday Inn - was for the pool! Lisateave

Stayed for 2 nights and had excellent service from the staff when reservations were for the wrong days. Arrived a day earlier and they still made accommodations for us. While it is a bit far away from Downtown Chicago this has to be one of the nicest Holiday Inn's I have ever stayed in.

The Hotel is a lot more then I expected. Friendly service, very clean, with a very good price. The pool was working fine and was clean. Is a good option for who doesn't want to stay in the center of Chicago. There is a Bennigan's connected to the hotel with a full bar. The only negative point was the internet connection. The best looking and well kept Holiday Inn I have being to. It is very clean, pretty and close to the Highway. There is not much to do in the area, but the Hotel is close to everything. Short driving distance to Chilis, Olive Garden, Santas Village and a Casino. The pool is nice and clean. Nice place to relax!

My son and I signed up to do a local race which was being held about 6-8 miles down the road. The whole family stayed for one night. The front desk staff was extremely friendly upon arrival. The room was big enough with 2 queen beds and extremely clean. We used the pool area which is inside also very clean and a nice size. Our room included breakfast […] which was actually a very nice meal, particularly after our race. Breakfast included eggs, Bacon sausage, French toast, fruit, cereal, of course coffee and juice, toast, sweet rolls and muffins. A really nice buffet. I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend this location to anyone. Lisateave

The hotel was nice, clean, convenient. Benegans is located within the hotel which was great. My only complaint is that I saw previous comments about construction at this hotel and I called Hotels.com and Holiday Inn specifically to confirm whether or not construction was completed or still underway. Everyone told me it was completed, however right outside […] my room they were hanging a new sign. I stayed up late the first night preparing for an early morning meeting, then returned to the room after lunch for a nap, which was impossible due to the noise from the construction of the new sign. I was quite disappointed, especially since I had made two calls to be assured there would be no construction during my stay. Lisateave

After having an amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express the night prior we arrive at the Holiday Inn in Elgin. We get in and they are renovating and there are building materials right next to the door. Ok fine. I get up to the counter and was given our room keys and not given any other details at all (time checkout was, how long the pool was opened […] until, where it was located, how to get to our room) as to our stay. We get up to the room and we have a room with 2 beds instead of the king sized bed I had reserved in the first place. Now it would not have been so bad but the girl who check us in could have told me that I was not getting the room I asked for. We had a lot of stuff so we didn't want to have to move rooms at that point. Then I'm looking around for a guide book on the hotel explaining everything and there is NOTHING!! Not even a channel guide. My boyfriend and I both tripped and hurt ourselves in all the construction in the lobby and we say the manager 3 times and he never once asked us how our stay was. Which I thought was terrible. Bennigan's was nice, we had some drinks down there later in the evening at that was the only good thing about this hotel. The Whirlpool was out of order so that was not disclosed to us either. I am pretty sure we will never be going back here unless we get stuck going to a wedding receptions there and even then there are several other hotels surrounding this one. Stay at your own risk! The lobby, dining room, and front desk areas are currently under renovation which is the reason for the lower rating. We have stayed here before and been very satisfied. We will be staying again in a few weeks and are looking forward to seeing the changes!

Not one mention on Expedia of the construction going on starting at 7:00 am and. Pool and spa closed. Front desk clerk told me if I didn't like it there were plenty of other hotels I could stay at. They should have paid me to stay there.

it was a great stay as once we got there we changed from a king suite to a hot tub suite and it was changed w out any problems at all...the front desk was very helpful and the new owners were very nice as well

The hotel was convenient with nice amenities however the room definitely needs to be upgraded. The furniture and carpet where very old and worn but all and all a very comfortable room.

Great location, rooms where clean. Nice lobby area and convenient that Bennigan's is attached to the hotel. Would stay here again because it is conveniently located near family and is very affordable. Only downside is the temperature in the room was either freezing or like a sauna...no in between...very old heating unit under the window. Also, the pool […] area was nice, but the water was noticeable dirty. For a quick stay, I would do it again. Lisateave

Great location, right off i90. Staff was very pleasant. Pool wasn't in working order, cloudy and quite cold but most guests seen didn't fit the swimming interest anyway. Would definitely stay there in future.

I have been going to this hotel several times a year for over (10) years now. I have watched as the hotel condition and staff have deteriorated gradually. I have also noticed some rather "thugish" types hanging around the lobby. I think that it is time that this location goes through a major rennovation and bring in a more professional staff. For example, […] I stoof at the front desk 2X with nobody in sight for over 5 minutes. When someone finally showed up, no apology for the lapse. Another front desk employee thought that it would be a good idea to tell me his life story which was a bit depressing. Lisateave

the hotel location is very convenient. Excellent attention in the front desk. Good parking. Rooms very clean, quiet and the bed is comfortable. No soft pillows, that's not good for me. Internet connection efficient and fast.

I used to work at the Elgin Holiday Inn (20 years ago) so I thought I'd pick the Holiday Inn when I went back from my 20-year high school reunion. Check-in took a LONG time which had me missing my Starwood hotels where check-in's a breeze. The room had a funky smell right when we entered. The AC unit was loud and cycled on and off. A very stuffy room. […] They had plastic corner protectors on the wall which came right out of my grandma's house in the 70s-80s. The food for breakfast was decent. The pool had towels strewn about with no hint of housekeeping coming by to regularly clean up. The pool was cold too. I'm a Platinum Starwood member which means I make 25 stays/year in hotels. This one had me missing my Sheratons, Westins and even Four Points. Look elsewhere. Lisateave
