EVERYTHING WAS GREAT EXCEPT THE WATER PRESSURE OUT OF THE SHOWER.

Beautiful gem of a place. Loved the private beach and spectacular Grottos (Caves) on the property!

Loved that it was so close to the airport, but not bothered by the sound of planes taking off. Lots of stairs on the hotel premises but that wasn't a problem for us. Quieter end of the island. Convenience store located across the road. Walked to Tom Moore's Tavern through the wooded park in less than 10 minutes. Also within walking distance to the Swizzle […] Inn and the Crystal Caves. Bought a 3 day bus and ferry pass at the hotel's reception desk and toured the island this way. Lisateave

My sisters and I just got back from a 5 day, 4 night stay at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort and we found the people to be so warm, friendly and accommodating that we are ready to spread the word.....to everyone. We had an Ocean Front Room and the view was breathtaking. We had spa treatments that were a bit over priced, but if you have your services done […] in the cave, it is worth every cent. It is conveniently located by the airport and there was no noise from the airport to contend with. The rooms are not ultra modern, but they are comfortable and the views from the ocean front room were phenomenal. We have vowed to return there again in the near future on another sisters get-a-way. By the way we were able to get such a good deal; paying for 3 nights and getting the 4th night free.....you can't beat that! Lisateave

it was so very peaceful during our stay in Bermuda, I was needing a pleasant few days away and this trip did me good.

It is a nice hotel in general, clean, very close to the airport (not even 5 min drive), the caves are a plus! Friendly staff. I'm a backpack traveler, I was hoping to find luxury and culture together, but I just found a very nice resort, very americanized, I wanted to have the option to save money on the taxi and walk to the hotel from the airport, […] well, imposible to do this, as there is just a small avenue with no side walk to cross from Saint George (airport location) to Hamilton (hotel location), you can't find decent restaurants with prices under 40-50 dollars per meal (2 persons), no local stores around. It is a beautiful island but very expensive. Everything's closed on Sundays, and when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING. And remember to bring AMERICAN DOLLARS! I live in Canada and the only way to exchange money is in a bank, as I went for the weekend and all the banks are close, I had no money to spend! Thank God my boyfriend is an american and brought some money. Lisateave

Grotto Bay Beach was good, staff very nice.

Hotel is about halfway between Hamilton and St. Georges, but the bus stops right at the front door of the hotel, so getting to either is not a problem at all. The Swizzle Inn is a short walk up the street and a great place to eat. Drinks are good and reasonably priced, Palm Court is okay restaurant and also reasonably priced. Frankly awful. Pool heating turned off for over a week, with pool bar not open over the 2 weeks. We saw staff sleeping on the beach which was unkept. The cable television intermittently kept flashing 'bill unpaid' ...and to top it off on our last day the hotel manager made comments to my partner which made her feel awkward.

Horrible stay would not stay there again. Only good thing bout the stay was the beautiful view. Grotto Bay is a dirty hotel.

Wonderful Hotel, well managed, great and helpful staff. I ate at the Palm Court and found the food be just ok but again, the serivce was great! On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate it at 8. My room was on the ground floor, everything was fine except the water from the bathroom tap and shower always started off rusty. I would not suggest drinking the […] water. The bedspread was funky and old. The room iteslf was lovely and I had no complaints. Nice view, good maid service, TV very very old and small - king size bed very comfortable and the sliding glass doors to terrace very nice and private. I have been there before, I do recommend the hotel and would definetly go again. I can't wait. Bermuda is a dream Lisateave

Well I spent sometime in this hotel a few ads I must say the service was pretty decent. The rooms were clean and pretty comfy! My only complaint was the housecleaning knocking on my door Christmas morning guys I am trying to sleep! After I told the person I did not want any service for the day guess what the called my room ahhhh that was very irritating […] otherwise it was a good stay! The pool was well heated and felt awesome however, I would definitely recommend to the hotel administration to heat the underground grotto pools I mean really awesome water but it was so devastatingly cold why can't itbe heated? it is something they should look into. The staff was friendly and courteous and they called a taxi for us the morning we departed all in all a good stay I would recommend this resort to others! :) Lisateave

I stay at the Grotto almost every time I visit Bermuda. I have never been disappointed with them until my last (off season) stay. Most of the television stations were down my entire stay (three nights). Also all of the ice machines were locked up. Having said that I will continue to stay at the Grotto when I travel there next.

The grounds are amazing, and the view from the room was terrific. A slight odor from the drains made the room musty, which was alleviated by keeping the bathroom door shut and opening the patio sliders as often as possible. Wonderful hotel. Had a great time at the Grotto and would go back for sure. 'Very clean,great service,most comfortable beds I have slept in on vacation. Location suited us well,fantasic view and the staff were very friendly.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting overlooking Grotto Bay. We had a room on the 3rd floor in the building closest to the beach. The view from the room was great. The staff was wonderful. We needed to change our hotels dates due to problems with our flight and teh hotel staff was very accomodating. The beach was small, but quite nice. The cave on property […] and fish that gather by the gazebo were big hits with my 7 year old daughter. The restaurants on property were ok. The swizzle inn, just a short walk from the hotel, served good burgers and fish and chips. The only downside is that the beds could have been more comfortable. Lisateave

DESK PEOPLE NOT VERY ACCOMMODATING. ICE MACHINE BROKEN FOR ENTIRE STAY, FAUCET IN SHOER LEAKED EVEN AFTER REPORTED. GROUNDS INACCESSIBLE FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES.

We had a very nice stay at Grotto Bay. While there were many nice ammenities, there were a few downfalls. First off, the staff at Grotto bay were more than pleasurable. Each and every staff member, from front desk personell, to the bell captains were so friendly and hospitable. We found this to be very common amongst all Bermudians. The food on the resort was not great. While the breakfast buffet was pretty good, the dinners and lunches were pretty dissapointing. I would not recommend the all inclusive. There are enough good restaurants around town where you can really get some good meals. The ammenities on the resort was a definite added bonus. We were so pleased to be able to rent a boat from Blue Hole Water Sport, which was right on the premises. The owner was so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend taking full advantage of their services. There were ship wrecks right off the beach that you could snorkel. While the beach was nice, you MUST NOT limit yourself to the resort beach. There are so many amazing beaches on Bermuda, where you will feel like you are in Paradise. Top notch in most respects. Great location: 5 mins from airport and 3 min walk to Swizzle inn, Bailey's Ice Cream and local caves. Great views, especially from the rooms at the top of the hill or on the hill - you can see the beautiful bay and the ocean in the distance. "Ocean Front" rooms at this resort do not have a very good view generally, so save […] your money and go for one up on the hill. All the rooms are beautifully appointed and have excellent air conditioning. Nice beach, but small - neat wreck right off the beach you can snorkel. Very cool cave that you can swim in on the site. Nice pool with poolside bar. The restaurants are average. Typical Bermuda hotel pricing (expensive for what you get). Go to the Swizzle if you want something less expensive and fast. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Grotto. Wonderful location with a nice beach and pool. Bus service at the end of the drive meant we could safely travel the whole island. We did not take a meal plan and were glad as we found the food did not live up to the rest of the resort. Avoid the buffet meals.

Loved it but other than being closet to the airport - in was in the mddle of nowhere. But there was a beautiful beach at the resort which was a huge plus. Rent a scooter - there is a great place a couple doors down that rents them. It's about a 5 minute walk from the resort. The fact that Grotto Bay is in the middle of nowhere wouldn't be an issue […] if you do. Lisateave

We had a great stay at the Grotto! The beach area was very nice, hotel staff was very nice, rooms were clean--no complaints! The caves on property were an added bonus! The couples massage was a bit pricey, BUT how often do you get a massage in a cave??? so I can't complain too much--it was a cool experience. It is very close to the airport which is […] nice. Our flight got in a couple of hours before check-in, but they let us go ahead to our rooms with no extra charge. If you go, rent a scooter-and explore the island. One of the best resorts in Bermuda. Have their own cave (includes cave swimming), beach, snorkeling, water activity, etc. If i go back I will definitely consider the all inclusive pkg (i didn't do it this time)....BERMUDA's FOOD AND DRINKS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE! so you might actually come out ahead in their "expensive" all inclusive plan.

We enjoyed our stay at the Grotto Bay Resort. Due to Hurricane Irene, we were not able to fly into New York to catch our cruise ship. We decided to meet the ship in Bermuda, and flew out a day early. We were concerned about making reservations on such sort notice, but the resort exceeded our expectations. Getting there was easy, as the airport is only […] about a mile away. It was a short an inexpensive taxi ride to the resort. There is a bus stop at the front entrance, so transit is readily available to any place on the island. The view from our room was pleasant, overlooking Grotto Bay, the causeway, and the airport. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, although getting there required some uphill walking. The amenities are wonderful. The resort has a beautiful private beach. It is clean, and well maintained, with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. The bay is protected (no surf), and the water is beautifully clear. There are lots of fish, since the hotel feeds them twice a day. This was our first time flying into Bermuda. In the past we had always cruised into Bermuda. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we are thinking about a land only vacation, without a cruise attached. We heartily recommend the Grotto Bay Resort. basically a good stay. reception desk needs to perk up on customer service. great location from airport, only 3 minutes away! and we never heard any plane noise! food was good! beautiful beach! wish less ants crawling in our room... eventhough all inclusive, we didnt have any perks in our room. on the average, it was good!! We stayed for one week for our honeymoon in August and felt we got a fairly good deal online. We knew we were not staying in the best resort on the island and we were fine with that. When we arrived, we were upgraded from an Ocean View to an Ocean Front room which was really great. The room was clean and had everything we needed, although it was certainly […] not in pristine condition (the refrigerator and faucet leaked slightly and the satellite tv reception was a little rough). However, we were happy with it, comfortable and had a great deck and plenty of room to move in for the week. Also, the staff was friendly and competent. We did not get the "inclusive" package as we spent most of our time out on the islands experiencing the restaurants and sites. The beach location is gorgeous with two shipwrecks that you can easily swim over (you can rent snorkeling equipment pretty cheaply, but we didn't see many fish, just cool wrecks) and beach chairs and umbrellas galore.The hotel food was fine, although we were happier eating out on the island as it was more reasonably priced and usually better (there's a great restaurant/bar about 200 yards up the road that we loved). Overall, we only had two disappointments: 1. I was disappointed with the Spa grotto massage - I felt it was not worth the price and it is not nearly as amazing as the photos make it look. 2. We were surprised by how many families with children there were. This is not a bad thing, it's definitely a family-friendly hotel, we just weren't expecting it and it takes some adjusting to as you share the modestly-sized pool and beach with everyone. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy Bermuda from a great location, but not have to pay outrageous rates. We were happy with our stay and would likely stay there again. Just don't arrive on a Sunday. The Beach & Pool area are very small and don't have alot of lounges, so if you arrive early, as we did, there won't be any lounges available. We arrived at 11:30 and were told the rooms wouldn't be ready till 4PM, but there was no where to go. On Sunday's all the stores are closed (who knew!?!) so everyone stays at the […] hotel. We took an early flight on purpose to give us a full day since we were only going for a few days and ended up sitting in the lobby with nothing to do and nowhere to go till 4PM. My wife and I choose Bermuda for a quick 5 day get away. Grotto Beach Bay Hotel was an excellent choice for that get away. They upgraded us without asking and we enjoyed tea on our balcony every morning watching the turtles in the bay. At first the buses where on strike so we rented a scooter to explore the island. Once bus service returned, it was […] easy to get to St. George and Hamilton, with a stop at the end of the hotel drive. Bermuda is the cleaniest and friendlist island we have ever visited and we have been throughout the Caribbean and Hawaii. I hope your trip will be as enjoyable as ours. Lisateave

The hotel was fine for a few days R & R. Loved the beach and the buffet breakfast. The food was disappointing in the Hibiscus Room, the more expensive dining. The room was adequate but we were placed on the ground level and would have preferred a higher level room. Would not recommend for older people or anyone needing elevators, etc. Asked for a […] late departure for room as the room next to use was available for 2 days but was refused. The staff was cordial and helpful including bellmen, desk folks, etc. I liked the more casual Palm Room and the food was good there as was the buffet breakfast in the Hibiscus room but our dinner there, athough expensive, was disappointing. The hotel and location were great, however the staff was not very helpful or accommodating. If you choose this hotel I suggest the all-inclusive package.

My 7-year old son and I spent 4 lovely days at Grotto Bay and had a blast! The hotel is well laid-out on a slope leading down to a bay, with a gracious, friendly staff and nicely-kept grounds. A couple of friendly cats laze in the manicured bushes and a half dozen resident chickens roam the grounds to great effect. We were captivated. There's nothing […] extravagant about the Grotto Bay. The beach and pool are modest and the rooms aren't grand. But the overall feel is great. The food is good, with a large buffet breakfast. Consider the all-inclusive dining plan if you don't plan to eat off-site often. It's a safe, convenient place for families with kids. My son and I made friends immediately and this made the entire experience wonderful. Happy children roam the grounds like they own the place, and happy adults relax in the Great House, around the pool or at the beach. Thirty feet from the pool area, the Grotto Bay boasts Prospero's Cave, a large underground cave fed by seawater. It's tastefully lit, and concrete stairs lead down to a small pier with a ladder that allows easy swimming. If it's raining, you can swim there all day long and not mind the weather. Don't miss it! Note that "ocean front" rooms are actually on a hillside above the water. They're closer to the beach and pool, but farther away from the dining rooms in the Great House up the hill. When I go back, I'll take a cheaper "ocean view" room instead. Also, I'll avoid the rooms in the 400 block, which have a view of the airport across the bay. It's not a bad view, but the airport is brightly-lit at night and distracting. Airport noise, by the way, isn't noticeable. Note also that rooms have no internet access and only limited television channels, mostly US networks. There is free Wifi in the Great House, and it works fine. While Grotto Bay isn't the height of Bermudian elegance, neither is it some tacky resort catering only to harried parents with wild children. We loved it, and we're already planning a Lisateave

My daughter and I chose Grotto Bay for a Mother-Daughter trip. It was just what we were looking for: quiet, close to the bus stop (a necessity in Bermuda), central to the major cities in Bermuda, and a variety of activities. Upon arrival, the front desk staff and manager were friendly. Our room was not ready by 3pm. Due to the foul weather we had to wait 5 hours indoors. Unfortunately there are no indoor activities at this "resort". Which is a terrible thing when you have rain for weather. I strongly feel that if you have stayed at a resort in the past, then you will be […] disappointed by the Blue Grotto. At a resort you are pampered, not the case here. Locals were not the least bit friendly. At first I thought maybe it was just one or two people but by the end of our stay it was very apparent that locals do NOT like tourists. We fell all over people with kindness and you could not get a local to be the least bit pleasant. Wait staff at the hotel restaurant seemed put out that they had to wait on you. We asked for a plate to bring back to our room and was told that there are no dishes allowed in rooms under any circumstances. In terms of the room, the shower had a good deal of mold in the grout. The blanket on the bed had many burn holes in it. The furniture is dated but presentable. Overall it should not be called a resort but rather a hotel that offers massages and nail services. The beach is clean but very tiny, we had never seen a beach that small and we have traveled most of the Caribbean. Blue Grotto is extremely overpriced considering the services, amenities and age of the facility. I would also warn anyone that has any physical limitations or recent medical issues you may have difficulty. We saw many guests struggling with the amount of stairs just to get from the rooms to the main building, which houses the restaurants. You also have to manage these stairs just to get to the pool and/or beach. In terms of the food, it was mediocre at best. We were very disappointed. The nachos had processed cheese that looks like it came out of a can. If you like a fair sized portion, this is not the place for you. When we went to afternoon tea, all of the food was gone and was not replenished. I Lisateave

The Grotto Bay resort was everything it promised. We arrived to a friendly staff and a beautiful room. The amenities were second to none and the entire resort was so well maintained that you just knew you were at a quality resort. We had a few ants in our bathroom because we brought food in and threw away the food trash. What do you expect when you […] are staying on a giant island of sand. Housekeeping quickly resolved the situation and we simply refrained from bringing food into the room. Problem solved. The bus pass which we purchased at the resort was money well spent. The bus picks you up right in front of the resort and takes you anywhere you want to go. The busses are spotless and the drivers are willing to help you any way they can. We strongly recommend the Grotto Bay resort. We won't stay anywhere else. Lisateave

Pool restaurant/bar open from 12-6. Many hours no restaurant open. Room ok. Roosters crowed all day. Some of the staff, especially pool bartender very rude. Water sports available - they were great. No nightlife. It might be ok for a family with small kids but we won't stay there again.
