Savoy Hotel - Buenos Aires

After viewing the pictures online, I was quite excited for my first stay at the Savoy Hotel. The lobby, bar, and staircases are quite impressive. The rooms are large, but I have a few complaints. When we arrived, our room on the executive floor was very warm so the bellhop showed us how to use the air conditioning. We left a key in the room to cool […] while we went out to dinner. Upon returning around midnight, the room was hotter than before! The staff came to look at the air, but couldn't figure it out, so they changed our room. While the second room was a bit cooler to begin, the A/C ultimately did not work either. With a heavy down comforter, we spent a very uncomfortable night. In addition, the room that they moved us to was much smaller, without access to the executive coffee room, and they didn't provide a reimbursement. My parents, who were staying in another suite on the same floor, also had a very hot not with a malfunctioning air conditioner. The second night, we asked to be moved to a basic room. They moved us to a room on the first floor which was both a cheaper price and had A/C that worked. Overall, the staff was helpful and friendly, but DON'T pop for the suites! They are overpriced and less comfortable than the basic rooms! Lisateave

Hotel is centrally located and has great amenities for the price.

Very nice hotel but in a not so nice neighbourhood. There are no restaurants of high caliber in the neighbourhood. High ceiling, granite sink, hardwood floors, first class linen but we are used to North American standard i.e. with coffee maker, microwave in the room and friendlier, smiling staff. Good value; happy with location and service.

This recently renovated hotel stands out in a neighbourhood in dire need of investment. Sidewalks are dilapidated and most surrounding buildings have definitely known better days (decades ago). Though everything in the hotel is brand new, there are already maintenance problems. The electronic key in the first room I was assigned could nver be made […] to work. Two days later, due to unknown causes, the electric fuses for my room went off. In both cases, hotel personnel seemed at loss as to what to do. Should I ever go back to Buenos Aires, I would choose a hotel closer to the obelisk, the true city centre. Lisateave

Hotel staff was Very nice. The hotel also included breakfast which was very delicious and had variety. Everything was very clean. My husband is very picky when it come to hotel cleanliness and the hotel was not only organize but also neat. Staff was knowledgable and friendly. We felt welcomed and safe

I was delighted with this hotel - loved the decor, classy with a stylish modern flair. The rooms are as nice in reality as they look in the pictures, and all of the furnishings are very high quality. The service was 5 star. For the price, this was a fantastic deal. I definitely plan to stay here again.

I would definately recommend this hotel. Athough the hotel was originally built in the 1940´s, it has been beautifully restored. One of the finest hotels I have stayed at. Location is also convenient.

Even I cannot compare with others, the hotel is well situated; enviroment is secure and not to fare away from interesting places. Rooms are dark and internet connection is not always given. Great service & value.......the staff were extremely helpful and attentive to my needs. All front office staff spoke English, which is a huge bonus when travelling abroad. Whilst you need to walk an extra 10mins to the FLORIDA shopping district, the overall quality offer at the Savoy is well worth the 10min journey. Enjoy! Gary & Ingrid

Overall, I had a very nice experience staying at the Savoy, but with a few changes the hotel can make it an excellent experience. The Good. The building is absolutely beautiful, built in the grand style of the rich, prosperous Buenos Aires of the early 20th century. It has recently been renovated, preserving its exquisite details while making it fresh […] and clean. The rooms are contemporary style which I like, as long as it is not overdone (see below). The staff at the reception desk, bar, bell boy are all very friendly and all speak fluent English. The location is good -- close to the Congreso, Avenida 9 de Julio, etc.; the street is safe, although it is not the most beautiful avenue. The windows are double glazed and are pretty good at blocking out street noise. The not-so-good. Like some other contemporary-style hotels, it appears they chose style over function. There isn't enough light in the bathroom. No full length or make-up mirrors; no coffee/tea maker. The closet has no doors -- and no drawers. As a matter of fact, there are no drawers anywhere in the room. There's no radio/alarm clock/iPod dock. The pillows are not good quality and when I asked for down pillows I was told they didn't have any. The nice breakfast buffet does not include decaf coffee (you can get it for an extra charge). Not all rooms have tubs, which did not bother me but it may bother some. I would recommend this hotel but potential guests should know what they can expect. Lisateave

Beautiful, elegant and classy with a staff to match! Very comfortable and well situated. Above and beyond all other hotels in this price range - and we peaked into a lot of hotels while we were there!

We loved our stay at this hotel. Everything was wonderful except for the construction right outside our hotel, but they were working on finishing it while we were there. The room itself was amazing! The bathroom shower was especially wonderful compared to any other hotels I've ever stayed in, even in large cities in the US. The bed was comfortable and […] our room was very clean and spacious. Also, the front desk staff was very helpful in getting showing us where to go, how to follow the subway and what taxis to take and even in getting us to the airport. The location was very close to a subway station so we could get where we'd like. Our location was a little far from Palermo, but it still sufficed for only being there for 3 days. Lastly, the breakfast was fabulous. I have stayed at nice hotels in Vegas, Chicago, New York, etc. This was definitely a very nice hotel and I would recommend this to everyone going to Buenos Aires. We were pleasantly surprised to enter this beautiful hotel with its elaborate furnishings and circular staircase. the rooms have been updated and were kept immaculately clean. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits, cakes, and hot breakfast items. The waitresses were professional, friendly, and smiling, and most helpful in serving. All the bellmen […] were professional and one particularly, Santiago, was most helpful giving us informations to museums, restaurants and tidbits about Buenos AIres. They didn't have basic business amenities. The business center's computers had extremely slow internet connection, also while there was a printer, was not connected to any of the computers there. The desk never had any pesos to exchange even though they kept telling us they would go to the bank in the morning. Still nothing. They didn't even have […] tape at the front desk. TAPE! The rooms were large and comfortable, but for spending big bucks on a junior suite, I hope so. The reservation said two queen sized beds, but when we arrived it was two TWIN sized beds. So...it was a bit misleading. I definitely would NOT come back, even though the location was close to my clients, the area is gritty at night. It wasn't particularly unsafe at night, but there was a certain Gotham feel to it. Maybe this place would be good for tourist, but as a person in BsAs for business, NOT a hotel to stay at. Lisateave

The Savoy Hotel has had a complete refurbishment done and is restored to its elegance and splendour. The foyers and common areas are enormous with high ceilings. This hotel was a delight! There are so many good things to say about it, from my beautiful and incredibly quiet room (on one of the inside skylight-courtyards), to the finest continental breakfast I've had anywhere -- there's not enough space here to give sufficient praise. The staff are outstanding and mostly bi- or tri-lingual (any communication […] issues were my fault for not knowing more Spanish) and my only complaint is that they're short-handed at check-in and check-out -- although this is a minor complaint and the staff were able to multi-task at high speed. There's an ATM a block away (Banco de la Nación) and an excellent supermercado (Disco) just two blocks away. Having the supermercado so close was fantastic, I was tired of restaurants and of lousy food on a small boat for a month in the Antarctic. The #1 buy in the world, a liter bottle of Heineken for about 5 pesos ($1.25US) and also a large selection of those delicious Argentine wines at great prices. Great cheeses and salumi also. I spent hours enjoying the hotel's gorgeous bar. The drinks were on the expensive side, but it was a wonderful place to eat supper and to "hang out" for hours when I got tired of sitting in the room. My only complaints were (1) the little fridge in my room was inoperative and remained that way for 5 days even after the front desk said that they'd take a look, and (2) the cigarette smoke blew in from the sidewalk outside and polluted the bar. Next time I'm in Buenos Aires, I'll stay here again without a second thought. Lisateave

Our king size bed was so comfortable. I had one of the best sleeps away from home during all my travels in the last few years. The breakfast was also outstanding in its variety and quality. They serve a cold gazpacho tomato soup in a mini bowl which made a delicious start to my breakfast. The selection of fresh and marinated fruit was also exceptional. […] We found access to the Internet set on the mezzanine to be most convenient. There is an ATM right next door. We asked the hotel to recommend a restaurant for our wedding anniversary celebration and thoroughly enjoyed Cabana Las Lilas located at the waterfront in Puerto Madero. Upon returning to our hotel room after dinner, a tray with champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries and other goodies had been set on our bed. It was such a thoughtful surprise. Absolutely lovely hotel. Rooms big and modern, bathroom huge with additional dressing area. Superb free breakfast - they even provided food and drink if you have to leave early. This was a great hotel. The staff were friendly & helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Public transport was close and easy to access. The room looked exactly as the picture and though not huge, there was storage space for everything. The bed was really comfortable. Would definitely go back.

The Savoy is located in the heart of Buenos Aires. The building is one of BA's beautiful old buildings, with fine architectural details. It has been renovated very nicely. Hotel is one of the oldest in Buneos Aries. The renovated all the rooms to very mordern rooms but kept in tack all the old charm or the era of Eva Peron. The food thou small portions is top quality for a hotel. The breakfast buffet is very adequate. The bar at the hotel is very expensive compared to what I have paid for at other hotels. US$20 for an […] Absolute Vodka and US$7 for a red wine (wine is cheap in Argentina) was very expensive. The only small issue was check out as there are only 2 people at the lobby counter at any time so check out can take long and just to get general in inquiry can take long. Lisateave

This is a great location albeit the unfortunate constant protest gathering so common in today's Argentinean political and social life. Still, you must understand that no matter where you may be in Buenos Aires you may still not be able to avoid the "manifestacion" sin they occur everywhere in the city. Having spent 18 days in a small town in Brazil this hotel was like an Oasis in the desert ! The room was wonderful , great bathroom with big fluffy towels, lovely toiletries. Some of the rooms are on the small side compared to the US, but the service and beauty of the hotel is well worth the stay. The only downside, I realized I had left my blackberry phone in the room after check out and when I realized it and went back to see if it had been turned in, it was not located. I was looking for a hotel that would please a 60 something Mom and her 22-year old son. Mom loves historic, classy type hotels, son like modern vibe flat screen Hotel Intercontinental type experience. Very charming, elegant and beautiful hotel. Close to everything. Very friendly staff. Fernando the bellman was very knowledgeable and helpful. He should be promoted to a higher position with his capabilities.

The entire staff (front desk, maids, breakfast staff) were excellent. The only complaints we have are: 1) no 110 outlets, 2) not enough English speaking tv channels and 3)no clock in the room.

Excellent front desk staff! In fact, all staff were excellent. King size bed was very comfortable. Room temp controls worked fine. Free breakfast was good to very good. Little bland, bring your own pepper and hot sauce. Front desk was also great on departure, letting us keep the room for two more hours, storing our suitcaces for free, and arranging […] transportaion to the airport. Overall, everthing was great, except very limited English language TV channels and no 110 volt outlet. What good is free wifi internet, if you can't charge your laptop? In a way, no big deal since plenty of cheap internet access shops around, however unable to charge my e-cigarette. everything was great except the last day the desk clerk had booked a car for us to the airport. car never came. other desk employees did not know who booked car and the person was not on duty when we left. created difficult time in getting to airport. be careful with booking car,get clerks name and reconfirm. great location in the center of the city, great hotel room with plenty of space and very comfortable, great service with helpful staff at the front desk and in the restaurant (breakfast was included)

Nós chegamos ao hotel as 23:30h, e fomos prontamente acomodados no nosso apto, e o mais lindo foi no ultimo dia nós precisamos sair do hotel as 06:00h da manha e o cafe ainda nao tinha sido servido, e nos ofereceram servir um cafe antes de sairmos. Nós reservamos uma Suite executiva, com cama king size, frigobar, ar condicionado, e TV com mais de 100 canais, e fomos avisados que no andar tinha uma saleta para leitura e tv com uma cafeteira nexpresso, chás, biscoitinhos, cerveja, refrigerante, agua, aberta 24 horas gratuitamente. Se voce pretende ficar bem em Buenos Aires, escolha o Savoy, valeu cada centavo!! Lisateave
