Hotel was fine but the planes flying directly overhead our room just before landing was a bit much for us!

Excellent staff, nice business hotel, very clean and very helpful. Breakfast was great and large buffet... Definetly would recommend to any travelers.

Would NOT stay here!! Protea OR Tambo is 100% better if you can book that instead! THe shuttle comes once an hour and literally drove past me and told me I'd have to wait for the next one. So I was outside at dark at the Johannesburg airport at 8:30 at night because he wouldn't stop for 1 minute to let me in!! THe room was so bright from the hallway, […] I barely slept all night. The room was also boiling hot and the fan system was so loud, I could hear it rhough my earplugs, as well as the planes, flying directly overhead in the morning. They gave me a wireless internet code, but my comptuer couldn't even pick up their signal! DON"T STAY HERE! Lisateave

There's nothing to complain about. Lovely hotel, good food, airport shuttle, inside/outside dining, great hospitality. Only issue is that planes fly overhead hotel so close that it could be disturbing

This airport hotel was convenient for a one night stay the night before a morning flight. The staff was friend. This was a clean hotel with nice rooms. During the day the noise from the planes is loud but it was fine overnight. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with lots of good food and service. Noticed cutlery - some - was not clean and one diningroom wall was dirty. Disorganised at diningroom checkin - had previous day`s listing!

I loved this hotel! Only stayed one night to wait for my early flight, but was very impressed with it. Hope to go back eventually.

Very Near to Airport.

I arrived at 13h45 to be told the room wasn't ready. I knew the check in was 14h00, but most hotels have everything ready earlier. I was told the rood would be 10 or 15 minutes. 55 minutes later, I was given my room. The worst part is that the reception staff showed little interest in my annoyance of sitting around their lobby for 40 minutes after the […] 14h00 check in. The manager apologized, but it was not heart felt. The room was fine, but the duvet had dirt stains and I can only wonder if housekeeping, in their hurried state, did not change the sheets. As for quietness, don't worry, the overhead jets stop flying by midnight and you can still get some sleep. This was the second and last visit to this hotel. I am a travel agent, so I will not be sending any clients here. The Birchwood down the road isn't much better. Stay on campus at the airport. Lisateave

The Hotel is well located, approximately 10 minutes by taxi from the airport. Shuttlebus from hotel is free, so tell them your arrival time at the airport. Although the airplanes are flying rather low over the hotel, it was absolutely fine. Staff was friendly, Wi-Fi worked well, Breakfast was excellent. A good option for an overnight in Jo'burg.

Very convenient. Smooth transfer from Tambo, easy check-in, great price, good rooms and breakfast. Only wish there was more choice for eating places. Nearby mall is somewhat out of reach because the shuttle service ends by 4PM and the hotel staff said they dont encourage guests going on-foot outside the hotel. I suppose we could have taken a taxi.

I have stayed at this hotel several times while visiting in Africa. They have a free shuttle service that runs once an hour but it is a very reasonable taxi ride (200 rand) if you are too tired to wait. The staff are always very helpful. Rooms are clean. Free breakfast is outstanding. Both room service and dining room are reasonably priced. East Rand […] Shopping Center is a couple of blocks away. They have a car service available which I used on this trip and driver was excellent and pricing seemed reasonable. They also have free Internet available. Lisateave

good stay for a night. nothing amazing, but the breakfast is very good. room service was a hasssle with payment as she didn't brnig the bill or credit card maching up.

For an overnight convenient place to stop when you're in transit this hotel had a very comfortable bed and quiet room. Free shuttle service from and to airport was good too.

We had a very comfortable stay, excellent food, friendly and helpful staff all within a few minutes from the airport. We had our hire cars delivered and the hotel is very close to the road needed to get to Kruger NP.

I loved the hotel, but did have a bit of a hassle getting there, as the shuttle wasn't available after 11pm, even though my husband had confirmed that it would be. And, the phone number on the online confirmation i received was incorrect, so i could not call the hotel to find out if a shuttle could be sent. thanks for a comfortable stay.

The hotel is very close to the airport and planes flying over can be noisy. Staff are courteous and the breakfast buffet is very good. The rooms are small but comfortable enough. Overall, it is a convenient and pleasant hotel.

I have used this hotel frequently over the past 5 years for overnight stays while on my way to other parts of Africa. The service is always good. The breakfast buffet is great. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the last 4 years-always on a layover from the States. It is very convenient to the airport with free shuttle service every half hour. Wonderful breakfast with every imaginable item offered and dinner in the dining room is very reasonably priced and good quality. This last trip I forgot my moneybelt in the […] room (safes are available but I hadn't taken time to do) and after checking out and waiting for shuttle, it was returned to me by the housekeeper--every Rand & dollar was there! I have stayed at other places around the airport--none of them compare when factoring in all varibles. Airport Grand is only place I will stay! Lisateave

Behind the hotel is a small bar area which has a very nice atmosphere and very good food and service. Incredibly inexpensive. It's part of the hotel.

Hotel about 5-10 minutes by half-hourly free shuttle from terminal (depending upon traffic). Friendly, helpful staff, excellent breakfast including in my reservations via hotels.com, Good value given convenience when compared with unreasonably high price of Protea airport transit hotel with its below par service and accommodations

Great for overnight stays, would not recommend for more than one night. Staff were great, room was quite comfortable. However, the shower and bathtub were not the cleanest. The shower was very old and needs to be replaced, I wore my sandals in the shower. Free shuttle to and from the airport, however make sure you have some money (US is preferable) […] for tips. Used shuttle service from airport to hotel. Location close to airport is what we required and were VERY satisfied with our luxurious accommodation.

This is simply a wonderful find of a very nice Legacy Hotel. Free shuttle, about five minutes from the gigantic airport in Johannesburg.. It is a professional hotel . The staff is simply the best. You will be greeted by Lawrence,Njabulo,Mellina, Buhle, Debbie,Nthati and Nthabiserg. A gigantic mall is a ten minute walk from the hotel if it rains.The […] business center has free access and allowed me to stay close to my office in the USA. It is very reasonable and comforting. The hotel was a 15 minute drive from the airport, we were unaware of fact that they had a shuttle, so it involved an $18 cab fair. On our second stay at the end of our safari, we waited 45 minutes for a shuttle. The hotel itself was rather dingy. I was unable to access my internet service as the hotel did not have high speed. Food in dining room was okay. I recommend the greek salad as the best. Reception staff were accommodating. The hotel accommodation, service and food were excellent. However I was not aware of the noise levels given the low flying aeroplanes that fly over the hotel frequently on route to the airport.

The hotel was pleasant to enter. The lobby was great with an outdoor patio for meals. The breakfast was fantastic and was a filling experience with fresh fruits, breads, omelots, etc. the room was clean, but not updated, but it was really acceptable. This is a hotel I plan to stay in again...

The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. My gf and I stayed here for the last 2 nights of our holiday before flying home. The hotel is located a 5minute drive (excluding roadworks!) from OR Tamba INT which is convienent. Hotel is however approx 200m from the runway - during the day you can almost touch the planes as they come into land! Noise may be an issue for some if trying to sleep during […] the day. Flights stop at about 2300 and begin at 0600-0700. Hotel was welcoming, breakfast ample. Bar is cheap but pool however was being cleaned constantly when we were there. This hotel makes a good base for a couple of nights stopover. There is a good size mall a short 2 minute drive away (walking not recommended) with plenty of places to eat and a cinema (there isnt much to do in Joburg!). We needed a hotel for just 4 hours to rest and change near the airport. We phoned the hotel to explain our unusual arrival time and they were extremely helpful in providing information and assistance in travelling to and from the airport during the early hours. Check in was very slow. The room was comfortable and clean but being right under the runway […] it was quite noisy. The breakfast was excellent for a mid range hotel. Nice and convenient hotel. Unfortunately, the cost of a taxi was 43 US dollars for a 15 minute taxi ride.

The Airport Grand Hotel is a fine hotel, I've stayed there twice and been pleased with the service and hotel quality. Guests need to know the hotel is actually some distance from the airport, not an issue when the hotel shuttle is available, but the shuttle stops at 1130PM, so if you are on a late flight plan to take a cab, which will cost about 250 […] Rand (about $35) Lisateave

Excellent location. Friendly and efficient service, clean and functional room and also very comfortable bed. Quiet and not noisy with aircraft noise. The best breakfast - there is nothing you could want for and beautifully presented too.

Room was ok, but aside from an outside pool the hotel has nothing to do and walk in neighborhood id out . Need to take a cab to mall across the street and it is not open in evening

The hotel was near the airport and in a convenient location. The hotel provided free pick up and delivery vans to the airport. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel was in need of an update and was not a 4 star hotel. The rooms were small and the furnishings old and worn. I came back late at night, ordered late dinner, was told I had to pay cash which was no problem, however, an hour later there was still no food at my door. I rang the service number for another 15 minutes without anyone picking up the phone. I finally went to the dining area only to be rudely told there was no record of my order, mind you there was […] no apology, and there is still none. I had to stand there for another 30 minutes to wait for my food to be prepared. Not an experience you'll wish for anyone that was as hungry as I were that night Lisateave

Hotel is good value for money and the service was good. Excellent breakfast and convinient business services. During my stay I did unfortunately experience some late night aeroplane noises.

The hotel itself was very nice with good facilities. The only drawback, which is beyond its control is its location at the end of the runway. The planes start at 4:30 am and continue until after 10 at night - and they are literally almost on the roof. Too bad, 'cause it's a very nice place. Good for a stopover if you have to get up early anyway.

About 10-15min drive to the airport, but in a very industrial neighbourhood where you certainly cant go out at night. TVs are the old tube type, and this hotel is definitely not 4 stars. Overpriced for what it is. The worst thing about the hotel is that it is DIRECTLY below the flight path of landing aircraft.
