"one week stay"
Pros- nice location, super awesome staff like Mario at front desk, Sebastian on the beach, rooms cleaned daily, pool open 24/7, hotel has arrangements with some places to bill services and meals to your room account. Cons- No water pressure in the morning 2 days, I hear this is normal for this hotel and the beds are not at all comfortable the mattress […] reminds me of sleeping on the box spring Lisateave

Great place, great staff, great beach.
We had another great stay at L'hoste, a nice family owned and operated resort. The staff is fantastic, pleasant and eager to please. Our only negative was the comfort of the beds, mattresses are flimsy and offer little support...
"good location, bad room"
The bed kept falling apart, there were paint patches missing in the wall and on the door, unchanged lightbulbs, faulty phone, rusted out stovetop, and rarely any water pressure. The shower was my biggest complaint. For hours at a time we would get only a tiny trickle of water out of the faucets, making it nearly impossible to shower after a day at the […] beach. That said, the location was great, right next to bikini bar and la playa. However, be prepared for loud music from 3pm until late until the night from the bikini bar. Lisateave
"L'Hoste Saint Martin"
The L'Hoste hotel is completely nothing like what is shown on pictures or video clips. It was very rustic, run down, needing a major overhaul and finish upgrade. Seemed to be deserted and it felt like it was just reopened after being deserted and not occupied for many years. Our bathroom and room had spiders and insects on walls, the cleaning service […] was very lacking. Cleaning service would keep the doors open during cleaning so that mosquitos would invade our room. Could not sleep at night while being bitten by bugs and mosquitos. A bathroom tile fell of and it laid on the floor, no one ever cleaned it. The breakfast was same every day, seemed like mass production assembly line. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Lisateave

"L'Hoste Hotel"
The room was great to include the A/C and a very comfortable bed. No View! and we had expected some kind of view of the sea but, the balcony was large and private which we did enjoy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast is fine if you like bread, we ordered an omelet and bacon each morning which turned out to be very good […] and was only $10. Also, we were happy that right next door there were several restaurants to choose from (some were closed for vacation while we were there) instead of spending $100 round trip for a taxi to go to dinner. Almost everything about St. Maarten and the L'Hoste Hotel was fabulous! The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating to any and all needs. The only criticism I had was with the quality of the cocktails at La Playa bar. But my co-worker was there in May and she said the drinks were great, so maybe the bartenders during our week just […] needed to learn how much rum to put in the pina coladas! "Great location"
The hotel was very nice except for the lack of lighting in the room. Breakfast was quite good and served quickly. The short walk to the beach was pleasant going by the bar and restaurant (great food), and the beach bar. There are plenty of restaurants along the beach for great lunches. "Great Orient Bay beach location"
We stayed at L'Hoste for the first time in Feb/Mar 2011. The hotel was very pleasant and the location was very convenient for access to the beach and Grand Case. Our typical stay in St. Martin involves lots of beach time and sightseeing on the French side of the island. And since we typically eat in Grand Case for dinner, it is a very short drive to […] town. This location is probably not a s convenient if you want to regularly visit the Dutch side, but if you wanted to do that, you probably wouldn't be looking at hotels in this location. Not to be understated is the ease of access to the beach. Just walk past the pool, and along a wood path and it isn't very far away. The hotel, and our room, appeared maintained on a level consistent with other properties on St. Martin. The small lobby area (a covered patio) had free wi-fi service, and the pool area was a nice place to relax at the end of the day. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Housekeeping services were performed very quickly and well. The breakfast was served each morning by cheerful staff. A couple of maintenance thoughts: 1) repair of the sidewalks on the property. The walk to the building had some loose paving blocks in a few spots, and 2) the sign for the hotel (at the end of the parking lot) is covered up by a plant. We found the hotel after overshooting the parking lot, but came back around after we figured out the problem. Lisateave

I was pleasantly suprised by this hotel. The bed, pillows, ac and noise level (for the most part) were all fine. The interior wasn't the Ritz but it was nice. The location is a two minute walk from the beach and there is a grocery store and some restaurants a minute away. There is no 24 hr desk but the staff was professional and freindly. The minor […] issues were: 1) No washcloths (french culture) 2) European plugs 3) Tiny little ants just a few unless they find food and then they spray handy. Not as bad as it sounds. 4) A few mosquitos because I left the bathroom vent open. 5) Some annoying bug that made an incredibly loud noise for a few hours a couple nights (wasn't too big a deal because it didn't keep me up. 6) One night only I had to ask for them to turn the bar area music down around 12am. "Very nice. No worries with this hotel."
Staff went out of their way to set up activities for the guests, both on-site and away. Very accomodating to us. Several other reviews mentioned noise at night. I felt that it was a bonus that they wanted to set up a barbecue for the guests and hire a dj. We were reasonably close to the area, and neither of us heard the dj after we went to bed. "GREAT LOCATION"
Great location, just off of Orient Baie. Simple, clean accomodations, friendly staff, convenient to restaurants and small beach shops; also has safe on-site parking and a lovely pool. This is my second stay at L'Hoste, and I would stay there again.

The hotel needs some updating and repair which I think is scheduled in the fall of 2009. I wish it had the ceiling fans running at night (by the front desk and eating area) so the mosquitoes wouldn't be able to get you so easily. Ok first if u are from the USA you need to get your island side of you out , because this hotel is not like a holiday inn in Dallas Texas or new York city , the rooms are nice clean and the island way , you are 20 yards from orient beach anywhere u stay at hotel . There are nice restaurants set up in a old square type setting about 6 restaurants , you […] can walk there and eat dinner everynight and have a different wonderful food each night. There is also a cool restaurant and bar right on the beach which is connected to hotel so u can charge to your room. It took us one day to adjust , things are just the island way and it really was refreshing ,anywhere u catch a taxi is 20 to 40 bucks , shopping is best on the Dutch side and food is great all over, overall we have been to every carribean island and st martin/st maarten is one of the nicest and funnest , just remember you are on a laid back island , and no matter how tan u are put sun lotion on cuz you are closer to the sun!! Great location. Few steps from the beach. We got an upgrade to the 2nd floor. Nice little village with a few good restaurants and a supermarket nearby. Not satisfied with the overall cleanliness. Needs to improve and oversee the cleaning of the rooms.
"Great room for the money"
As a single female traveler, this hotel was ideal. The surrounding area was clean, quiet, beautiful and overall very pleasant. My only drawbacks was having to lug my bags to my room, which was down a path, past the check-in lobby and up stairs. The room was very clean and spacious and I felt safe. From reading previous reviews, I was warned about the […] separate bathroom and showerless shower area. Overall the bathroom space was spacious and I did not mind the separate toilet room. The safe in the room was not working; no key left behind and there were a few tiny ants running around in the bathroom and toilet area - but nothing to be too alarmed about, until packing to come home - they were in my bags. The breakfast was pleantiful and the walk to the gorgeous beach area, La Playa restaurant and French Village was short and all were enjoyable. The food was great, although a bit pricey, but I enjoyed being served lunch on the beach. Since I wanted somewhere to relax - this was the perfect place. I love the french language and although I know only a few phrases and words, I found the restaurant staff @ La Playa to be somewhat unfriendly; used what little I knew to get the attention of the wait staff, although they spoke perfect English. All in all the visit was great and I would definitely return, cold shoulders aside. It was worth watching all the activity on he beach: horseback riding, parasailing, jet skis, catamarans, et al. "Så nær stranden du kan komme"
Takk for et flott opphold på L'Hoste fra 8.1. til 14.1.2012. Vi var en gruppe på totalt 18 personer og ble ivaretatt så godt det lot seg gjøre. Dårlig med vannforhold både i dusj og toalett, men ellers var rommene store og luftige. Mye rot rundt hotellet. Anstatte i strandbaren/restauranten gjorde en fantastisk jobb. Takk for oss!

"Pas la vue contractée..."
Notre chambre au premier n'avait pas de vue sur la mer comme réservée et il nous a été expliqué que les palmiers devant le balcon en était la cause. Palmiers adultes donc... Peut-être ont-ils été plantés ou ont grandi de manière à empêcher la dite vue sur la mer entre notre réservation et notre arrivée ?!?

Abbiamo soggiornato dal 26-11-10 al 5-12-10. camera tipo "tropical Bamboo", con vista sul giardino e sul mare. Camera comoda e spaziosa. Personale gentile e disponibile. Abbiamo affittato una automobile tramite la reception ad un prezzo più che ragionevole. l'hotel offre servizi di spiaggia gratuiti tramite convenzione con "la Playa". l'hotel è situato […] nel complesso "Village d'Orient", nel quale sono ubicati molti ristoranti, un paio di minimarket e qualche negozio. Nel villaggio sarebbe utile avere anche una farmacia (c'è solo una parafarmacia) ed uno sportello ATM. Tornando all'hotel, poichè la camera è dotata di cucinetta, sarebbe utile disporre di un tavolino su cui poter mangiare, e di un minimo di stoviglie e pentolame in più. Lisateave

"prima hotel met perfecte ligging direct aan strand en strandfaciliteiten"
Hotel is prima bevallen, goede kamers, goede schoonmaak,en prima ligging. We hebben met onze twee dochters een prima verblijf gehad. Ontbijt was goed en de service aan het strand was perfect. Zeker een aanrader voor ons om nog eens terug te komen.
