Sorat Agneshof Nuernberg - Nürnberg

I stayed midweek with my parents who are in their 70's and my 22 yo daughter. We were all comfortable and happy to have found this hotel. Pros: comfortable rooms, great breakfast, and location was ideal. Service was helpful. We were able to use the bus with no trouble to get to the Documentation Center and back. Cons: Internet access requires rekeying in a login ID and password every time you pick up your device. It also lasts only 24 hours and then you need to request new access codes. Things we learned: they don't automatically provide wash clothes in 3* hotels in Europe. Jams were delicious. Hot tub was a quiet retreat. The A Durer restaurant next door required reservations but no one at the hotel or restaurant mentioned that (we stopped in for lunch but they were closed by 1 pm). Very conveniently located and not too big. Breakfast gets busy at 9am - they haven't quite got enough tables, so getting down a little earlier than that was a good strategy. Apart from that it was a very good base to explore the city.

Hotel is ideally situated for the Christmas markets. It is quiet and on a quaint street that is out of the way. We took a taxi to the hotel; the fare was approximately 10 Euro. Check-in was efficient and communication in English with the staff (Isabella) was excellent. The Christmas market is less than ¼ mile away from the Sorat. Our room was clean, charming but not very spacious. The shower was fine and the water pressure excellent. The pillows were the normal […] Euro type; not too much heft or fluff to them. Each half of your bed comes with its own comforter. There is no clock in the room. The door does not have a peephole for security. A metal key is used to access your room (yep, those still exist). Being located in the medieval part of Nuremberg, you will not have a view and any street noise will be due to the people/luggage/vehicles transiting on the cobblestone streets. The spa facilities are excellent; the sauna is set at 86 degrees Celsius and is complimented by a cold water shower system and a relaxation room with lounge chairs. The Jacuzzi is quite large. The spa hours are from 1600-2200. The friendly staff, location, amenities and intimacy of the Sorat are its strengths. The surrounding neighborhood takes you back in time. After having a drink with friends/staff at the Sorat’s lobby bar, we recommend having apple fritters with vanilla sauce and vanilla ice cream at the 14th century restaurant on the corner of the street after 2300 for 10 Euros. We’ve lodged at the Sorat two years in a row and we look forward to our third next December! Lisateave

Great location as walking distance to everything but in its own quiet street. Not far at all from the centre, even closer to the castle. We even walked it from the train station and found it to be pleasant walk. Breakfast was lovely. Only downside for us was two single duvets on a double bed.

The location is good for exploring and the accommodations are very good especially considering the reasonable rates. The elevator only goes to the third floor so be prepared to walk up one additional flight if your room is on the fourth floor. The street is very quiet. The real bargain is the breakfast buffet at about 5 or 6 euros including eggs, fruit, […] breads, cheeses, meats, yogurt, coffee, pastries, and more. The desk personnel are friendly and helpful. This hotel is just down the hill from the castle and is an easy walk to churches, museums and shopping. The staff recommended the restaurant next door to the hotel and it was excellent. The furnishings are basic but well-maintained. The breakfast buffet was adequate and not included in the room rate. Nuremberg is a charming little walking city!

The staff was exceptional. The hotel is located in a charming part of town. The breakfast was excellent and priced very reasonable. I would stay there again. Downside there were no coffee pots in room and there was a lot of street noise.

Very nice hotel in the centre of town. Pleasant staff and very welcoming. I was travelling with a full to the top car and I booked the parking, they let me leave the car in front of the hotel with video camera on. Room and bed very comfortable. The television had many foreign channels.

This hotel is very centrally located inside the old walls of the city just around the corner from Albrecht Durer's house and just below the castle and its fine gardens. There is no central air conditioning but there is a very nice jacuzzi and sauna in the basement.

The hotel is in a pretty location and is quiet. The rooms are small which is not unusual, but keep in mind there's little seating. My wife and i stayed at the Agneshof for 5 days in August 2012 and could not have wished for a better hotel for location, staff and quality. We speak little to no German, but the staff were not phased by this, and went over and above to help us with directions and recommendations for restaurants etc. We soon found our own feet, and found that most […] places were a 10-12 minute walk from this hotel. The Agneshof is in a great neighbourhood that is very safe and picturesque, we were walking around at all times of the day and night and only encountered friendly locals. We had also emailed the hotel prior to visiting to request a room overlooking the garden, and away from elevator, this was duly responded to, and on our arrival; that is what we got. The description on Expedia and what was available was not entirely accurate: Expedia said the room had a queen or two twin beds, but when I arrived at the hotel there was no option, so my dad and I had to share a queen. The best location in Nuremberg you can have, right in the middle of the old town. They have a small parking garage, but only if your car's height is below 150cm. I am so happy I booked my stay at the Sorat Agneshof. First, the location was very centralized so I could walk everywhere - to the train station, surrounding sites, a menagerie of restaurants, etc. The location is in the heart of the Old Town and I would recommend it to anyone who is sightseeing in Nürnberg. They provided me with an umbrella on a very rainy day and even fixed my toilet after I told them it wouldn't flush one morning. Third, the cleanliness was absolutely wonderful. It was always nice stepping into my room after sightseeing to find a clean bathroom and bed. The maid on my floor was also extremely nice as she would see me coming down the hall and press the elevator button for me. Friendliness abounded at the Sorat Agneshof! I never had a chance to try breakfast because I was running around in the morning but it always smelled delicious. Yes, there isn't air conditioning in the rooms so some people might complain but the days that it rained made it cooler. We stayed in this hotel for a few nights during our sight-seeing holiday in Bavaria. The room we were provided with felt small at first but it turned out to be big enough. We had a wonderful stay. We were there a year and a half ago but stayed outside the castle walls. This time we wanted to be closer to everything. We read other reviews regarding wether to take a taxi or walk. As we walked out the baunhof to take a taxi we saw the castle wall right across the street and changed our mind. The only reason I don't recommend this hotel is because I was charged for services I did not use -- breakfast and bar. There is no sign or any indication that breakfast is not included in the price of the room. I used it three days but was charged for 6 breakfasts (I have not even been there that long). I was also charged for the bar. I indeed used […] the bar twice but I paid cash with generous tip. I hope it's only misunderstanding on the part of one stuff member. The staff welcomed me warmly; however my reservation through Expedia was for 2 people in a room with two beds and they had reserved a single with one bed. In their book of hard copies it was correct, but in their computer system it was wrong. They were happy to try to fix it, but the choice of remaining rooms was limited. My son and I ended up in a […] smoking room on the ground floor, so the only view was of the small courtyard and it did smell of smokers. He smoked outdoors and the room was aired out quickly with the window open. Parking garage was tiny and cramped, with those odd European car lifts to stack the cars when it got crowded, which it did on my final night there. The staff was extremely kind, and willing to help me whenever I got confused or was unable to park the car properly. From what I saw of other hotels in the area, and the on-street parking habits of the residents and tourists, I was very fortunate to have parking at all. Breakfast buffet was wonderful, with a wide array of choices to fit different eating styles; fruits & veggies; breads & pastries; fish, meats & cheeses; eggs & sausage, yogurts & cereals. The only thing I would do differently is ask more questions up front; I had assumed some things were complimentary that were not, like the breakfast and parking. The internet really was free, but still I had a bill for 149 Euro ($198) upon checking out. Overall, a great place with wonderful staff. Close to historical sites, restaurants and shopping.
