Our stay at the Park Hyatt's Canberra Hotel was sheer delight. The staff's genuine warmth and attention to detail were touching: flowers I had ordered were waiting in our beautifully appointed and well-lit room and the cupboards held five different kinds of coat hanger, an umbrella and a rechargeable torch in case we felt like an evening stroll through […] the autumn garden. We particularly enjoyed the heated pool and spa in its separate pavilion, the live piano music in the public areas, the fabulous gourmet breakfast buffet and the peace and quiet of the location. We stayed 4 nights at the Canberra Hyatt,its a beautiful old building close to Parliment House. Breakfest for the 4 days was exactly the same food with not a great deal of varitey and not very inspiring for a 5 Star Hotel.Also the swimming pool has public access and we had to battle to get into the pool as guests of the hotel, as they were running a […] public water exersise class.After paying nearly $1800 to stay there for the 4 days we should have been able to use the pool when we wanted.So to sum up we were not impressed with the Hyatt in Canberra however the stay we had at the Perth Hyatt was outstanding 2 years ago which we also booked through Expedia.. Service in Promenade Cafe very poor, often no one at desk to get you a table, staff either overworked or forgetful as often items requested not delivered, or delivered some 15 to 20 minutes later.

Beautiful old hotel with modern facilities. Rooms are large and clean. Bathroom is large and beautifully appointed. Could not fault this hotel and will stay there again whenever travelling in that area. Close to all of Canberra's attractions including parliment house.

We booked a couple of days before our visit for one night in a room with a king size bed. The room was spacious with a large flatscreen TV, the only drawback was that the TV was to one side of the bed rather than at the foot of it which would have been easier to watch. I stay at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra every time I visit the Capital (about 3 times per year). I have been doing so for 4-5 years now. It has class, character and an individual charm that you cannot get at just any 5 Star hotel. It's Art Deco architecture and the plus fours of the bellhops ensure that you appreciate a really unique hotel. The High Tea […] is worth the trip to Canberra alone.That you can experience all this and be just down the road from Parliament House, the High Court, a variety of museums and the city centre make the Hyatt Canberra one of my all time favourite places to stay. It is always a great experience when a hotel has comfort and style like the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. We used to stay there a lot in the past but could not stay at our usual hotel this time and decided to return to the Hyatt Hotel and just loved the experience and service. We will be staying there everytime we go to Canberra in future.

Would recommend. Very comfortable, very peaceful. Rooms are large. Only drawback, Car park has many trees which leave sappy flowrs on vehicle. Had to wash and polish/ claybar entire car.

My only complaint is that our room smelled like an ashtray even when we had the air conditioner running while we were out all day. The tiny balconies were scary to stand on with very little room. So I ended up smoking outside the hotel anyway. The staff are extremely friendly, professional and always approachable. Nothing was too much to ask of them. […] Staying at the Hyatt definitely enhanced my experienced from being a simple trip to a holiday experience. Next time I would choose a non smoking room. The hotel is living on its past. I was told that the Hyatt was the pace to stay - this was my first trip to Canberra - and while it has an excellent location and looks good, everything is a bit tired in the room I stayed in (and the half-flush on the loo did not work). Things went wrong on arrival. It took nearly half an hour to check in - there was […] only one receptionist and she clearly did not know what she was doing. She initially said that my room was not ready (at 6.00pm on a Sunday evening) but then confirmed that it was. She had enormous problems with my credit card, declaring that the problems were caused by the new equipment, despite the card reader and computer palpably being ancient. I am sure she checked me into the wrong room because although I had booked a smoking room, which she confirmed, there were no ashtrays in the room. On the second afternoon the room room had not been made up when I returned at 5.45pm. I called Housekeeping but no-one answered. The Front Desk sent someone who said it would take 20 minutes and so I went to a common area to read my book. I returned 30 minutes later to find two other Housekeeping staff if my room, one of whom said that I had left my door open. I said I had not and began to explain but she interrupted me to say that I had. From this I deduced that the person making up my room had left (with the room not quite finished) and left the door open. While now exactly a high theft risk this is totally unacceptable. Lisateave

This was a very nice hotel location in a very quiet neighborhood. I would definitely stay there again, the next time I would be in Canberra. We were expecting a 5 star experience but were quickly upset. The room was very damp with a water leak problem. After immediately contacting reception to report the problem, we were moved to an upgrade room complete with outdoor verandah. This is really what we wanted to experience. Excellent service on arrival as I needed the assistance of a wheelchair. The staff were most attentative and helpful, perticulary at meal times when they asked what I required and then went and got it for me, They returned frequently to see if I needed other assistance. I was assigned a disabled king size room, probably due to full booking. However, it's close to the lift. The room is well sealed as the weather was very cold in Canberra -6 deg c at night. Both […] the room and the bathroomm are spacious and well stocked with toiletries etc. I'm glad to see the green policy card in the room. It's what one expects for a 5 star hotel. Especially love the buffet bar for dinner. The main course was ok as it was a bit salty for me (double cooked duck confit) but it was not a big issue. Would love to try the high tea next time.
