"Good standard in all ways."
We were quite satisfied with this hotel. It was best in standard and value out of the 3 we stayed at on the North Island. We are happy to recommend it.

"Central, friendly and comfortable"
Everything was fantastic! the guy on reception (he walks to work) was so VERY helpful with even the silliest and smallest info needed. Fred was amazing organizing a cake with Happy Birthday fore my friends 50th Birthday. I am in sales and customer servidce and Fred really did go above expectations!!

Great hotel, very convenience to access to surrounding shop, all amenities, and just across the road to walk along the lake. Quite nice view from the room we stayed in. Staff are friendly, however, one thing that let us down is lack of attention from room keeper (I.e not to replace toilet roll, or at least provide a spare one). "Novotel lakeside Rotorua NZ"
We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at the Novotel Lakeside. A great location near Lake Rotorua and the central city and restaurant area. while our room didn't have a view of the lake - it didn't detract from our positive experience. A great family hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It was a pleasure not to have to pay an adult rate for our 14 […] year old. The room was clean and serviced daily. The size of the room with 2 double beds was adequate. Our only negative experience was being charged for a $7.00 bottle of water from the mini bar that we definitely had not used. Despite our polite insistence we had not used it the person on the desk insisted we pay. Perhaps in the interest of customer relations discretion should have been used. Lisateave

"Perfect location for the area"
We were really impressed with Novotel, situated on a picturesque lake near to shops, reastuarants etc. it was the perfect location to explore Rotorua. The rooms were a good size, with sofas, tv, mini bar etc. It's a shame you can't open the windows to get some fresh air but there is decent air conditioning to keep the room nice and cool. On the whole […] the hotel was lovely and clean though we did have one unfortunate incident where we found what looked like a pubic hair in our fridge! Goodness knows how it got there! "Novotel Lakeside, Rotorua"
The good - staff very friendly. The bad - Very tired hotel. All chrome in bathroom corroded; previous guest's body hair in bath; very noisy bar fridge (had to turn it off to get to sleep); very uncomfortable, old pillows; drinks in mini-bar past use by date; coffee machine at breakfast not functioning.

"Great Location"
Very well located hotel in Rotorua, would happily return. Only a couple of minutes stroll in to town and the property overlooks the lake. Rooms a little dated but overall a good place to stay.
"Close to Lake Rotorua"
Internet access in business centre in lobby. Utilize pillow menu as standard pillows uncomfortable. Close to lake Rotoura and cafes. Bathroom appeared dated but good to have inbuilt retractable washing line. Room service pies tasty.
"Nice Hotel - but could use a fresh paint job"
The hotel was nice and the beds were very comfortable but it looked slightly dated. If they just repainted the entire hotel and did some minor repairs it would look much nicer than it does now. Prior to staying at this hotel I had stayed at the Novotel at Auckland airport which is much nicer. The hotel has a very nice heated pool, natural geothermal […] hot tub, and regular hot tub. They also had a sauna and private geothermal pools (which cost money). The concierge and front desk were very helpful. "Very nice stay in Rotoruo"
Stayed 1 night on 3rd June 11. Polite reception (during check-in and check-out), clean room with 2 double beds, very suitable for 2 adults and 2 chirdren. Location is ideal, a short walk to Lake Rotoruo. Having stayed here and Novotel Queenstown, Novotel chain of hotels will be on my radar for future stays. Would recommend to others

is just a few minutes walk from both the lake and centre of town. Local geothermal attractions are all within a short drive and well worth a visit. Staff are very helpful and the hotel is very comfortable with its own spa facilities, bar and restaurant. "Great place for the price"
This is a nice, clean, modern hotel in a great location. Just off the main drag and very close to the lake. As an added bonus they have a couple of very nice macs in the lobby with free internet and very cheap laundry.

this hotel is very nice. we stayed there for 2 nights. it was calm and very clean. the dinner we had was delicious. the spa at the hotel was nice too. two things we did not like: first thing - the shower is integrated in the tub. second thing: they wanted us to pay the accomodation at check out (at a a higher rate than booked!) although everything was […] prepaid. after some clarifications, the receptionist corrected the bill. our recommendation: always keep your booking confirmation at hand and check if it is not already prepaid if they want to charge you for the accomadation. besides the checkout we loved staying there! "NOVOTEL HOTEL NIGHTMARE!"
AFTER QUITE A BIT OF RESEARCH I BOOKED THE NOVOTEL ROTORUA BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE NAME WOULD GUARANTEE THE QUALITY AND STAR RATING OF THIS HOTEL. UNFORTUNATELY, THE NOVOTEL ROTORUA IS NOT A 4 1/2 STAR AS ADVERTISED, I WOULD SAY ITS CLOSE TO A 2! THERE WERE DROOL MARKS ON THE FRAYED BED CUSHIONS, THE WALLS WERE MARKED AND THE PULL OUT COUCH WAS IN POOR […] CONDITION. WE WENT TO RECEPTION TO SEE IF THERE WAS A BETTER ROOM AVAILABLE, THE MAN AT RECEPTION DID NOT ACCOMODATE US IN ANY WAY KNOWING WE WERE UNHAPPY WITH THE CONDITION OF THE ROOM. INSTEAD WE LEFT THE NOVOTEL WITH NO REFUND AND BOOKED IN AT THE MILLENIUM WHERE THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE US HAPPY! Lisateave
"Unexpected Surprise"
we were plesantly surprised with the location of the Motel, quiet location opposite a beatiful park that was right next to the Bay. Just a 30 second walk outside you had the choice of all types of foods, or you could eat in the restaurant inside the complex, I say complex as it had a pool, spa, gtm, bar and much more. The hotel was ok, altough I expected a little bit better from a 4.5 star hotel. The furnishing a little bit run down in the room. The biggest problem in this hotel is the noise as the walls are paper thin, you can hear the conversation from the room next to you. "Great hotel; central location"
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We had a lovely view of the lake, and our room was very comfortable, meeting our needs. The hotel is located near the boulevard of restaurants and was centrally located to the cbd. The check-in person was friendly and informative, and made me feel like a valued customer. An item had not belonging to our room […] had inadvertently made its way onto our account, however, that matter was quickly sorted. I appreciated the phone call a day later to ask if a mini-bar item that was not charged to me at checkout, belonged to me. It didn't, but it was nice they checked instead of charging, and me having to sort that out. I liked the daily free 30 mins of broadband, ccessible only from the foyer, but at least it's an option. "Novotel Rotorua handy to everything"
My husband and I booked a few nights to celebrate our golden wedding. As a surprise my daughter and partner also booked and booked us in to the concert and hangi. She mentioned it was our anniversary and this must have been picked up on as we were made to feel special and even had an anniversary cake presented after the hangi. The only downside was the carpark - a fair distance from the hotel reception without weather protection and during the day was packed with cars from non residents attending a community gathering in the park opposite the hotel. (not a regular event) I would reconsider if I needed to park a car on any weekend. Very close to restaurants and shops

Great hotel, great location, food in hotel was fantastic, breakfast buffet was amazing and lots to choose from - would definitely return. Lots of restaurants in walking distance and sightseeing places all close by too.

"Great location"
This hotel was right on the lake and walking distance to everything. Inexpensive. Very friendly staff. We were constantly asking them where things were and they were extremely helpful.

The hotel is well situated on the shores of Lake Rotorua, providing easy walking access to the lake and lovely views - assuming you have a room on the lake side of the hotel - worth asking for. The staff were very helpful with information on places to see and help with foreign currency. Although, like most hotels, the exchange rate is better from the […] banks or money exchangers. The hotel room was very nice and provided everything we needed for our short stay.. There is limited free internet provided (its limited in that you can access the main email and social network sites, but not much more - for example we could not access our airline's website for travel the next day). Otherwise it was very useful to have. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and enjoyed our stay. Lisateave

"Great Location"
This was a nice property. We got a great deal with a free night, so overall price for our stay was a good value. Just at edge of downtown, so easy walking to shopping, dining and the Polynesian Spa. Would stay at this property again and or another Novatel property.
