The Huntington Hotel - San Francisco

A very nice quiet property on Top of nob Hill. Be certain to ask directions to the Italian Cafe across and a block or two down the side street. I f you need your coffee in the morning go fro breakfast down stairs and have all the coffee you can drink and breakfast for the same cost of coffee only room service.

Conveniently located AND away from the more tourist filled, noisy areas. At the top of Nob Hill...straight down one side will take you to the Embarcadero and down the other side heads down to Union Square. Lovely pool area and spa as well!

We stayed at the Huntington for one night while attending a conference in SFO. Superb customer service, from the time we entered the hotel until the time we left (including late check-out). Everyone was so nice and accommodating, it was a delight! Comfy bed, large room, lucky enough to get rides to the event in the private car, great staff, quiet and […] excellent location. The hotel did not have my reservation when i arrived. I showed a print out of my reservation and the confirmation numbers, but the front desk gave me a hard time about it and kept me waiting. The hotel is in a great location, but the interior of the hotel is very tired and dated. My room had not been updated since the 1960's

the spa is the best ever. eatery places are lackinng in the area.

I thought this was a lovely hotel, the staff was extremely helpful and personal. The food was good and the fireplace with a glass of wine and the piano playing in the background after a busy work day was superb!

From the bellhops to the concierge we received excellent referrals and help negotiating the city. Will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in an awesome location. The staff has the professional attitude that seems to be forgotten in the newer hotels. The room was clean, the towels thick and the beds comfy. I will definitely stay next time.

Great hotel, great service, great food, great location with one exception the bathroom toilets are horrible! They put in public restroom type toilets that are extremely loud when flushed, it was really weird.

This is an old hotel but still very lovely. The location Is wonderful. The hotel is clean, well maintained. The staff were very friendly and courtious. We would and will stay stay in this hotel again.

My husband and I returned to The Huntington Hotel for our babymoon. Our first visit here was our wedding day, so because of all of the festivities, we did not get to enjoy the spa. I was 36 weeks pregnant and it just so happened to be a beautiful weekend in San Francisco, but for me, moving around and doing too much was out of the question. I loved […] that we could take the elevators from our room to the spa and get comfortable in the robes and lounge around the pool. Everyone in the hotel was friendly and kind, and many of them, seeing that I was with a baby bump were gracious and made sure that we were very comfortable. It's a great staycation and vacation for all. Lisateave

Classic San Francisco Hotel with old fashioned service. True Nob Hill experience. Some rooms have views. Worth staying here as it includes the use of the spa, nice bar on property, not far from Union Square but the hill is too big to hike so requires a cab or cable car. Made for a nice, relaxing weekend.

We love everything about this hotel; the neighborhood, service, food, and the piano music in the bar. Hope they don't change a thing with the new ownership.

One of the four fabulous hotels atop Nob Hill - but I must say that even though we had a one night stay on a Thursday, they couldn't put us higher than the 5th floor. You'll have to walk barefoot to the spa because they don't provide slippers, and room service ends at 10PM. Also - they charge for wifi, which I just find declasse. But the spa is gorgeous […] and the staff is very attentive. Let's hope the new management keeps up the tradition of gracious accommodation that has been the hallmark of the Huntington for nearly 100 years. Lisateave

Stayed at the Huntington for three nights and I was very satisfied. The rooms were tastefully updated while retaining the original 1920's charm. Also very spacious as we found out the Huntington was originally an apartment building. Great spot away from the noise of downtown. Try the Big Four restaurant in the lobby if you get a chance--it's an old […] school classic--dimly lit, piano, large oak bar spanning most of the restaurant and wonderful food with an excellent wine list. perfect hotel. we stayed here on our wedding night. only complaint was how many times the cleaning service knocked in the morning (3 separate times!? we forgot to put the don't disturb sign up, but still). Otherwise, perfect place and great stay. Beautiful view from the shower too. :)

This is a great place to do a girls weekend in the city. Although we only did one night we complete enjoyed ourselves. Everyone from the hotel staff to the spa staff was super friendly and very helpful. We made our reservations at the last minute and originally were given two rooms on different floors but they were very helpful in getting us all on […] the same floor and right next to each other. Also due to the late booking the spa could only take all four of us at the same time if we want to do an 8am appointment. When we got to the hotel they gladly stored our bags until our rooms were ready. All of us fully enjoyed our individual spa treatments. We then enjoyed a wonderful although a little pricey breakfast in the spa on their outdoor deck. After breakfast we were able to get our rooms early, and then spent the day in the city shopping. The location is great if you want to shop union square or catch the powell street cable car. When we came back we all enjoyed drinks in the bar. We did not eat there but the menu looked quite nice. The rooms were very large for a standard room, and the views from the rooms were amazing. The beds were very comfortable and our room and a walk in closet. I am already looking to book a weekend away with my husband here. Will recommend this hotel to everyone. We got a great deal on hotel.com but I would still stay there if I have to pay full room rate. The best part of this hotel is the location and the attched Big 4 restaurant. Perched on the top of Nob Hill accross from Huntington Park and Grace Cathedral and right on the cable car line. At night you can have a drink in the bar with a live piano and a not to be missed chicken pot pie. The drink will help you ignore the slightly dates room.

I love this hotel, great service, great location Great value. I am concerned that new ownership May change this. I learned of this from concerned Employees that told me? We will see, sometimes change is good.

The Huntington is a lovely hotel located on the top of Nob Hill. The staff is very gracious - they welcome you by name. This is not a modern, glitz hotel. But if you like old world charm and great service, this is the place. The Nob Hill location is not convenient for business trips.

I found this hotel last minute and cancelled reservation at the Ritz because it was half the cost and still convienient fory meeting and in a nice area of town. I loved the classic decor (hunting prints, mahogany walls, a classic old bar). My room was on the top floor, was large and nicely decorated and had a fantastic view of the city (there was a […] lovely park below and a great view of the bay). My only complaint was that the bathroom was definitely dated, but it was clean. The spa was lovely with a fireplace, hot tub and pool and again a lovely view. The staff was wonderful and the doormen helped wIth all my bags, valet parked the car and hailed me cabs. Free wifi in the lobby. The bar was great as well, very cozy witb dark wood and a wonderful bar tender. Great value for your money, and frankly better service than some of the bigger, more famous hotels nearby. Lisateave

Nice hotel with nice rooms. We will definately use it again if we return to San Francisco. They do however claim panoramic view from all rooms, which is not correct. Our view from our first room was directly into the walls of the neighbour building. We got however immidiately another room with a view, when requested so.

The hotel was very clean and charming. The front desk was very accommodating to all my needs while I was there. Room service came when scheduled and the doormen are exceptional; so very pleasant and friendly. I would definitely stay again.

I liked this hotel alot. The staff was very nice and helpful and it was very clean. We were upgraded to a park view suite, and the room had an amazing view. I thought the bed was comfortable and the size of the room was also nice. I was just disappointed that there wasn't much to walk to as for as shopping and restaurants. The hills were extremely exhausting. […] You practically had to drive to get somewhere. Other than that, I would come back. Lisateave

We stayed at The Huntington for a 40th Birthday Party at the suggestion of the hosts and were pleasantly surprised. The staff is well versed in all that is San Fransisco. The location is centrally located on Nob Hill in walking distance of Union Square and delicious hole in the wall restaurants. Although the hotel rooms themselves are in need of modernization, […] they haven't been redone since the 70's, the rooms are large spacious and very clean. Lisateave

This hotel is amazing. The staff is wonderful and the location, views, and spa can't be beat.

The Hotel service, location, and condition were all fine and met my expectations. I do have one complaint about their Valet Service though. When I got my car back on my check out day I noticed that my gas tank was substantially lower than when I gave it to them, and also there was some slight damages to the passenger side door interior panel. Of course […] there's no way for me to prove this to management, so I suggest that you take pictures and pay close attention to the details of your car. Other than that everything else was ok. The hotel is old and for that reason has lots of character. I couldn't help feel that with hotel standard these days the hotel should be rated a 'very good 3*' not 4*as it needs some doing up and has no free wifi in the room, which should be a given these days, especially in Nth America. All this said, a very pleasant stay in a good location with very […] friendly staff. Tips - make the 10min cab ride to The Marina area for loads of cool restaurants and bars. We stayed four nights and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and our room larger than we expected. We took advantage of the free access to Nob Hill Spa and it proved the perfect solution to our day-long treks up and down those SF hills. Excellent in every respect. Great location.

This is a beautiful old hotel .... the bathrooms have been redone and there is a large flat screen tv but the rooms are old. It is lovely but not modern. The parking valet service leaves much to be desired ... extremely slow ... even when called in advance. Restaurant is beautiful and there is great live music in the bar each night. The fresh flowers […] are exquisite in the lobby though there were none in the room as had been advertised on hotels.com's site. Lisateave

I was amazed at how large the room was. This used to be an apartment building before conversion to a hotel - so there was a sitting area and wet bar, along with a small refrigerator. Staff was very nice. The views were amazing and it was quiet! Nothing like anyplace I've ever stayed in SF. I look forward to returning for a longer stay.

The hotel is beautiful and has classy charm, but is in dire need of some up-grades. The beds in the room were old spring beds, that I could feel the springs popping underneath me - very uncomfortable. While not totally necessary, the T.V.s were really old and a bit of an eyesore in such a pretty room. As for the service of the hotel, the concierge and […] front desk were really polite and helpful, but when I called to order room service at 9:59, they told me they were closed and stopped serving at 10:00. I feel that for the price of the hotel and the standard that they are trying to achieve, they could have accommodated one more order (their kitchen remains open to serve bar guests down stairs, so it wasn't like it would have been a huge inconvenience). Also I ordered a beverage from a server in the spa area which took 35 minutes to be delivered, this could have been a fluke but I still felt like it was worth mentioning. Lisateave
