We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at Christmas to be with our Military Son and his family. We cut our visit short rather than stay in these 2 rooms another night. We brought a dog, this was suppose to be a "pet friendly" motel. They told us where to take our dog to relieve herself, it was overgrown weeds as far away from the motel as they could get. "Location, location, location"
The hotel is accessible, easy in-out to the interstate. The problem is that a train runs through the back of the hotel, and its horn last for about 7-10 minutes. Extremely noisy. The very personable staff is what puts this almost below average (b/c it's old) hotel into the higher ratings. It is located in a rougher part of town (still very close to Ft. When I first saw this Hotel I was less than happy. But the Room was clean and the TV was old but worked. It is in the center of town. but a short drive to food and entertainment. We stayed two nights at this hotel. I was so impressed! It was way more than I expected for the price. The room was big and very clean. There was a fridge, microwave, hairdryer and iron in the room. The staff was very friendly and provided great customer service. The room was cleaner and a lot nicer than those hotels in the same category. The only two drawbacks were: a) the plumbing fixtures need to be updated. Has an active train track directly in back of hotel; use the ethernet cable to hook up to the internet - wifi connection is not good. Older furnishings but clean room, very close to Ft Hood gate. My major complaint -- and as a business traveler, it is a significant one -- was being unable to get a wireless Internet signal within my room. I had to go to the lobby.
