We order the smalll room and it was a bit too tight. Trouble with TV but staff extremely helpful..

Excellent location at a fair price. Old charming building. Rooms however are very small and when you have a room on court side, they are quite dark as well. Excellent price if you only need the room to sleep in a very convenient neighborhood. Hotel staff was very pleasant, and coffee machine in lobby made good coffee.

Good service. They gave me a smaller room and a breakfast voucher for an early check in. Also received a $22 voucher for overnight parking 2 blocks away. Very happy with their service. 5 min. walk from Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Will definitely come back.

There are no thermostats in the room. Therefore, the only way to control the temperature was to open and close the window. Just thankful that it was in spring. Otherwise, the hotel was great.

This was our first time staying at The Mansfield Hotel and we would most certainly plan another stay there! Location was perfect - near 5th Ave., Times Square and Broadway. The staff was friendly and accomodating and upon checking it we were told they had updated us to a Jr. suite which was a great start to our overnight stay. Overall the Mansfield was fine, though the rooms are just postage stamp size. I knew to expect a small room but it still surprised me. I must have missed the fact that it provides only double beds (I am tall so this was not pleasant), and the lack of a bathroom mirror was a first for me. Hotel is good located, close to Times Square a Broadway. Rooms are tiny, but what to expect from NYC. Windows not closing well, a bit chilly in winter. Forget the offered shoeshine service, either they had no polish or the person in charge has no idea how to shine shoes. Sent mine back 3 times, never improved... Its a fancy hotel, near Times Square. There is a nice bar and library-style meeting room downstairs (with free coffee, apples and lemon water). There is also a nice bar downstairs, but people are there mostly in the early evening. The view from our window was into another wall in an alley. We could not control the temperature in the room (they offered to send a worker to adjust the waterheated radiator). There was a clinging sound all night long on the pipes - it kept waking me up. Also, the room was very hot and there was no way to control it so I opened the window. However, the staff was great, the cookies were wonderful, the business center to run off my boarding passes was convenient, and the bellman was very nice and helpful. The room was fine, though a bit small. We especially appreciated the hard wood floors due to allergies. The heat was provided by a radiator so we had no control over the temperature. Despite snowing the day before, the room was quite warm. We ended up opening the window about an hour before bed and leaving it open over night. Love the small intimacy of the hotel. Robert, the concriege, was helpful with excellent restaurant choices and table reservations. We received prime seating for both nights at fabulous establishments. We booked the Junior Suites which are very luxurious for one person at a reasonable price. This hotel is close to Times Square but on a quiet street. I loved the personal touches like the cookies at check in and the library room with free coffee and tea. I did use the bar and that was nice. I had a small room but perfect for a one night, 12 hour respite.

I've stayed in a lot of NYC Midtown hotel in the past decade, I mean dozens. This one is as good as they come in the $200 per night range - and much much better than most. It's nicely appointed and up to date, but best of all - they have the quality of hotel staff that ALL goo dNYC hotels should strive to have. Stay here. You won't regret it.

Really liked this Hotel! Stayed in a Junior Suite which felt like Paris. Quirky layouts which we loved. Lively Bar and restaurant and great Cafe Latte ( free) in the library !

Hotel nice. Conveinient location. Spoke to hotels.com phone representitive for over a half hour as he tried to locate a smoking hotel. he booked this hotel with a smoking room, when we arrived, we were told that the entire property was smoke free.

Loved the convenient location. Staff was helpful. Price was good for NYC. Others have commented on the small size of rooms, but pretty typical for Manhattan. Old-world NYC decor and charm. It had everything one would need for a brief stay, and I would return if price stays reasonable.

We had to ask several times for the Hotel staff to come and make the sofa bed for my 10 years old daughter. They made us feel like we were demanding by first asking us to do it ourselves that they would drop the sheets and pollows for us! We left the hotel at 5pm and ask that the sofa bed be made and when we returned at 9pm it was still not done. I read many reviews of this hotel and I agree with some of the complaints I saw. The room was too warm, but, because I was in a suite, I was able to open a window or two and this made the room quite comfortable (this was in the middle of February). The room was small for a suite, but adequate (though I certainly wouldn't want to stay in a regular size […] room at this hotel). I also found the mattress too firm for my taste and had rather sore hips by the second night. Some of the other complaints, however, I do not agree with. I found the staff very polite and helpful. I was worried about the frequent complaint that the hotel overbooks, especially because I happened to be there over Valentine's day weekend, but my room was ready and available even though we arrived after 8:00 PM. I also found that the vintage aspect of the architecture (including the small elevators) only added to the charm of hotel rather than detract from it. If you prefer modern chrome and glass, this is not the hotel for you, but if you appreciate vintage and charm (and can roll with the quirks that come with it) then you will likely enjoy a stay here. Room is pretty bare bones, which is fine if you aren't going to be there for long. No heat control in rooms so it got pretty cold at night. Coffee machine in the lobby is great, and a nice bar. Staff was friendly.

Great location, walking distance to Grand Central, theaters, Time Square ect... a lovely old hotel with updated and stylish rooms. Staff was courteous & very helpful.Only hiccup on our weekend trip to the city in the cold, was the discomfort of a very drafty and frigid room. We had a front window room that had a very bad draft coming in from the bay […] window. This could be expected in an older building in winter in NYC, I suppose, but the small venting window in the alcove in the bathroom kept blowing open ...it was freezing!! and there was actually frost on our sill and drinking glass at the sink! We did ask desk to turn up the heat, and it was not a solution. A bottle of wine, and a coat on top our covers, and we survived! Hey we're New Englander's, we know how to do cold! Like all hotel rooms in NYC, it's a little small. However it is really nice. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The only drawbacks were: 1. That you couldn't really move from one side of the bed to the other, without rolling over the bed itself or squeezing between the bed and the desk. 2. One really great thing about this hotel is the location, (between Times Square and the Empire State Building). You couldn't really ask for anything more as a visitor on a short vacation in the city. I would definitely return to The Mansfield Hotel. The check in and out was easy. The room was a decent size and clean , the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was quite small but adequate. No view but we didn't mind the location is perfect for theatre goers or 5th Ave shoppers or grab a cab to shoot down to Union Sq. Great location, convenient to Times Square and Fifth Avenue, great little diner down the street for breakfast or lunch. Overall great hotel, but it's Manhattan, the rooms are a lot smaller than your typical hotels elsewhere. Staff very helpful, older hotel but kept up to date. The window is your A/C, not accustomed to that.

No early check in so don't bother trying. Hotel had charm to it but in bad shape. Bathroom door didn't close properly and neither did French doors. There was some parts of the hardwood missing near the bathroom as well. Bathroom super small and no fan. M Bar at hotel was expensive..4 drinks later and 76$ bill, and service was brutal. Rude staff and […] had to wave them down for anything..and there was only 4 people total at the bar so it wasn't busy. The only good thing about hotel is location. 5 min walk to Times Square. I thought the hotel was beautiful. It definitely instilled old school charm. So while I expected my room to be small, I didn't expect it to be quiet that small! However, we had a fabulous time! Our major, yet small complaints were...no bathrobes...that is a big no-no for me...they should be in every room. The a/c and heat seemed to be fighting for time...although […] I read that in a review and was prepared for warmth, I was not ready for 32 degrees outside and needing to run the a/c at 64 all night!! Comfortable and convenient. Rooms are adequate - not too small for Manhattan. Renovation is nice. Location is excellent. But overall this is very pricey. The room was clean and well presented, bathroom OK. Buy your own water outside - hotel water is $10/bottle. Front desk staff were helpful. Room was available at 2 pm on a Friday.
