Overall it was a great place. Located right in Mission Bay, 5 min from downtown and 5 min from shopping / grocery stores. Upon arrival we upgraded to a suite with a bay view and fire pit. The room had 2 queens and a sink/fridge with sitting area. Walkout to the fire pit patio. Views of Mission Bay. Parked right next to our room every day ($32/day). […] Hotel was clean, service was good. Only thing was the room's carpet could have been a little cleaner but I think that is due to the beach being 25 steps out the door. I think the 3.9 is weak for this hotel personally. Lisateave

Great stay, good price. But again, you are paying extra costs (Parking, other servives) at a higher price..either because of the name of the place or the going rates in that area.

Great location. The hotel was under construction when we were there so it was a little noisy and messy. They charge $33 for parking which seems a little much given the fact it's not downtown. There is free street parking right across from the hotel. Overall it's a nice hotel, but certainly not 5 stars.

There is lots to do in the surrounding area, especially if you are traveling with kids.

A friend and I had rented rooms for a 3 night stay. On first glance the rooms appeared somewhat outdated but on closer look it became apparent that the rooms are in bad need of renovation as paint is peeling from walls and wallpaper is separating from the drywall, etc. On even closer inspection, it was apparent that the rooms had not had a thorough […] cleaning - or at least had not been cleaned by someone that was halfway observant - in quite awhile (bodily fluids should not be dried onto the vanity or be under the toilet seat of a "clean" room). I don't care about outdated, but dirty and dilapidated is another thing. To add insult to injury, the parking fee (which was NOT valet) was outrageous as well as the newly instituted "resort fee". Be sure to ask because the daily parking fee cost more than my daily car rental. Lisateave

This was awesome!! We had 2 little kids and the pool area was so perfect! It had a kids pool and an adult pool, 2 jacuzzis, cabanas, ping pong, large sized chess set, and more. The room was very nice, comfortable and clean with a great view. There is a coffee shop and quite a large gift shop. There are tons of restaurants about a mile away. We rented bikes and cruised around Mission Bay. Perfect location to quickly get to the Zoo, Balboa Park, Gas Lamp, and Old Town districts! Great restaurants and night life around. All around very good hotel.

For a Hilton hotel, I expected it to be nicer. The room itself was nice, and the pool area was great, but the surroundings were not so good. I could live with that, if they had told me upfront about the extra fees they would be charging me, which they did not. I was told I'd only be charged for parking (ridiculous, since this is not a downtown hotel, […] and there is ample parking), but they tacked on a "resort fee" after I checked out (I discovered it on my credit card statement). When I inquired about this fee, I was told it was for the resort activities, including "free" wi-fi, among other "free" activities. Won't stay here again. Lisateave

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were very clean and fresh, unlike some hotels that can smell and feel stale. Grounds were well maintained and staff very pleasant. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a great time. Booked though Hotels.com even though I am hilton honors gold member. Paid one third of hilton's price and was upgraded still. The family had a great vacation.

Booked this hotel because the pictures looked nice and it had a "four star" rating. It was $33 to park (self-park, not valet) and our room number didn't exist on the floor directory. It took several trips down to the office to finally find our room. Room condition was fair, but not on par for a four star (maybe a three star). This is the second time we've stayed here. We love this hotel and the pool and ammenities are great. Situated on the bay and the walk ways around the waters just adds to the beauty of it all. It's located close to most everything. The staff is warm, friendly and very helpful and make you feel very welcome. Great staff and great hotel!

The hotel is close to the freeway, walking distance to Seaworld and a quick drive to Fashion Valley Mall. The hotel grounds are nice. Bathroom could use updating. Room service fees are ridiculous. Best part was breakfast and our server(Terry) was so funny.

The Hilton at Mission Bay is a lovely facility. I was personally alittle put off by the excessive charge for parking your car overnight. $33.00 per night seems way too high on top of the cost for your room. The amenities there are wonderful and the staff very friendly.

Southwest Airways lost our luggage, the Hilton gave us an upgrade for it. It was nice that they tried to make up for something that was not thier fault to make our vacation nicer.

This hotel isn't too far from the airport, and is located on the bay. Not really beach front, but there's a stretch of sand and a dock with boats. Surrounded by a park, great for walking exercise, but nothing else is within walking distance. It's not the urban experience you'd have if you stayed at a hotel closer to the Gaslamp district or Coronado […] Island which would offer more options of things to easily do. We were upgraded to an elegant suite with a view of the park. The room was spacious with a huge TV screen and comfortable bed, etc. It included a step-down area that opened to the patio that gave us a great view with max privacy on the ground level. The grounds were immaculate, located right on the bay, making us want to stay longer. Bummer that parking […] is $35, so we parked on the street for free.The Hilton is close to Sea World and Old Town, and everything else is not much further. Staff and all around cleanliness was satisfactory and made for a pleasant stay. Dinner at the restaurant was very good, although I was a tad disappointed with my flat-iron steak order which was a bit tough. My wifes seafood dish was splendid. Our breakfast was excellent. The seating could have been better as there were many open tables and our host […] gave us a seat facing the wall. He was most accomodating when we requested a different table. We booked a standard room and requested an upgrade, for and extra $30 we were upgraded with 30% more floorspace in our room as well as a bay view. I was not impressed with the 30% more and the bay view was pretty obscured by trees. I think the agent could have given us a better room as there were many open. It was adequate though. This hotel is in a prime spot for easy access to San Diego's attractions as it is located next to I-5 freeway minutes north of downtown. Lisateave

Was reluctant because there were some semi-negative reviews but for the price I booked it at, this place was great. I got it in off season and paid a fraction of the high season cost. greta deal for that reason. Also, cleaning staff was amazing. So kind and very through. :)

I was there in the middle of the week, the hotel was a little quiet. The grounds are well kept, beautiful. I felt though I had the hotel to myself. I'm guessing it's their slow season. I didn't have a car on this trip, so unless you rent one there isn't anything close to just walk to that I found anyways. Old town is just a few minutes away, a must […] see, a $20 cab ride. I stayed in a queen double, close to the beach. The room was a little dark, but the bed was very comfortable. Food is expensive, but know going in that you are staying at a Hilton in San Diego. Over all I would say it was a pleasant experience but next time I come without a car I will probably stay closer down town, Gas Lamp District perhaps where there's a little more activity. Lisateave

My clients were very pleased with their stay at the resort. As they had family close by, they didn't spend as much time there as they would have liked. Everyone was very nice and they were upgraded with their room which they thought was great.

Hotel employees were very cheerful, professional & helpful. Amenities were excellent. Food prices could have been a little more reasonable. In terms of room, the bathroom could use a towel rack to hang the used towels esp if two people stay who want to be environmently conscious & not use new towels every day. My husband and myself had a great time at Hilton Mission Bay. We had our wedding lunch and Mr. Ronald Quiroz who is the Manager of Acua did a great service. The food was great and since we are vegetarian there was a menu for us. We stayed there and we had a complimentary breakfast too. So, it was a memorable wedding day for me and my husband.

I recently spent two weeks at this hotel and I really enjoyed my stay. The front desk was always very nice to me, I believe the girl's name was Erica who help me. In the gift shop or market place, whatever you want to call it; this girl marisa gave me directions for pacific beach, I thought that was nice of her since I get lost a lot even back home. […] The liked the restaurant attached to the hotel mostly because of the staff; Louis (waiter) and Nema (hostess) in the morning and at night: Sarah(hostess), Chelsea (waitress), chris (waiter, jersey kid), Lindzee (cocktail waitress), Laurant (batman), I forgot a few names in there but anyway all of these people were great and I'll be back next year because of them. Hotel is a great place to stay in the San Diego area. Guests should be made aware that there are hidden costs related to the stay. eg $32 a night parking charge to leave a car in their 'motel' type car park!

Why it was just ok was that it was a little boring first off. It was New Year's and we expected a more lively crowd. The entertainment for New Year's was boring too but the dinner was reasonably priced for what we got. The rooms were ok but not as clean as it could have been, fixtures were broken, etc. The rooms were also so far from the lobby, coffee, […] restaurant, pool and spa that we had to switch rooms to be closer to the hot tub which was a priority for us. also online I could sware it said there were 5 restaurants but there was only one and a very boring and dark lounge. There was a coffee kiosk but that was it for food and the one restaurant was a little high priced for what you got. Definitely don't order pasta there, its not seasoned or flavorful at all. The service in the restaurant was good. There was a shuttle (that cost money) but the times it was available was spotty and unreliable which made it costly to get around in taxis. Lisateave

We stayed in the suite and it seemed that the heat was not kept on, the room was musty and took along time to get up to 72 degrees. The pillows seemed musty and the shower needed the mold removed. The hotel is beutiful and the staff is very friendly.

The good : Housekeeping staff was good, generous with towels. Good wine collection. The bad : Musky smell in the room, thin walls, noisy hallways, no wireless internet, no free internet, parking is 31$/night, no minibar in the room, room service is slow and food in the restaurant is really really bad. The ugly : Hotel's location is in the middle of […] a park. Nothing is close by. Restaurants don't want to deliver to this location. Hotel is near a bay (not the ocean), that no one goes to. Its definitely not a hotel rank... Its more like a inn... The room didnt have anything. Its didnt even have the booklet that explains the hotel and menu for room service. No comb, no hair dryer, no slippers... Room service tasted awful. The room itself was not that bad. I liked the bed.
