Even in their starting base rooms the waldorfastoria's elegance shines. With the beauty of this historical building and the more then helpful staff, I will be choosing no less then waldorfastoria's for the rest of my life! I felt enamored from the moment I walked in to the very quick check out. I compel you to take the time and look around this icon […] of a hotel and enjoy its equally well staffed and atmosphere restaurants. There is no place like the Waldorf! It should also be noted that the bedding is some of the most cleanest sheets I've ever payed to sleep upon. They take no measure to small and all the while being as environmentally friendly as possible! Since the beginning of the hotel renaissance the Waldorf has set industry standards that most luxery hotels embody now. They are a leader amount the best and have convinced me their is nothing to compare. Even a one night stay is worth the price if you want to be treated for the full value of your dollar! Lisateave

In a word. Tired! Public areas fantastic but rooms in desperate need up refreshing. Check in process far too long and this is my second visit and the room was not ready till after 4pm. This hotel has seen better days. Wifi didn't work, no coffee in the room, not enough towels, tv remote didn't work, furniture worn, not enough furniture, $98/person Sunday brunch, etc

A spacious room in a quality establishment, in need of refurbishment. Noticeably absent from earlier stays was the afternoon tea service now missing from the lobby. The Internet charges were high compared to the free or nominal charges incurred at other hotels.

You read about the Waldorf in books, but I had always figured it was out of our price range. Booking thru an online site we found a reasonable price. I was still concerned after reading reviews, that maybe it was a mistake. People were saying that it was becoming run down, its best days were past, etc. But, the pros outnumbered the cons so we kept the […] reservation & crossed our fingers. We were not disappointed! It was beautiful! Grand, elegant & altogether lovely. My mom & I were impressed and my daughter was mesmerized. Be polite at check in, explain your concerns, and you'll probably get an upgrade. We had reserved a dbl luxury room (two dbl beds). Upon check in I mentioned that it was our 1st trip & we really hoping for a high floor (for the city views) & a renovated room. We got a complimentary upgrade to a king suite. It was amazing!! Everything I'd read told travelers to be prepared for the tiny rooms, so we were. But we walked into a 2 room, 2 bathrm, 2 walk-in closet, CORNER suite! It was huge, by anyone's standards. No, it wasn't newly decorated but it didn't matter. Very classy! Even though we were on the 21st floor, our view was marred by scaffolding right under our windows, so asking for a high floor doesn't necessarily get you a fantastic view. Still, it was fine. The beds - even the pull out couch - were so comfortable. Room temp was easy to moderate. Staff was superb. Location was excellent. (Note: be prepared to eat elsewhere. Although delicious, VERY $$$). The Hotel itself was great. I had a problem when checking In. They could not locate my gold card. The person that checked me in was not very accomodating and rude. My only major issue was I did not have a closet in which to hang my clothing. Overall the experience in all other areas was great.

Make sure you ask not to be placed in the smoking Floor. They gave us a room in the 17th floor and the smell of smoke was unbearable. Make sure you ask for a non smoking room as they have an entire floor just for smokers. They moved us to a different room the following night but the first night was a nightmare.

Only issue was old carpeting gave me allergy issues in the room but rest was fantastic. Older crowd (45-70) in the bars but cant beat the location and old NY flavor

Hotel really needs maintenance my room tub was pealing ugh,rugs smelly furniture not closing well or hard to open or close,hall reminded me of the hotel in the movie The Shining. Really scary do not take children there. But hotel staff was very nice. But will not stay there again,or recommended. The. ChAtwall hotel was so much better .

Noisy, cramped, dirty, expensive. Stayed in another hotel for the first 3 nights, and never should have switched to the waldorf astoria. Such a huge waste of money. I can't believe how loud this hotel was. Nothing in the room worked, and the walls seemed about to come crashing down.

I was very disappointed in the stay here. The hotel is completely run down and the prices for what they offer you are absurd. We had to switch rooms 3 times!! We wanted a Park Avenue view and we got that, but there was no hot water in our room. When we called the complain, they told us to wait 20 minutes for the plumber and it was 11PM. It is not my […] home, I shouldn't have to sit with no hot water waiting for the plumber. Then after 10 minutes they switched us to a different room. The room was smaller with scaffolding cover our window. We complained about that then finally we got switched at around 11:45PM. It was a horrible experience for a hotel with such a reputation, well they did not uphold that at all. The hotel is also so run down and so old feeling, they really need to fix this place up for the prices they are charging. Lisateave

I thought the rate from hotel.com was decent. However, both my daughter and I have feather allergies. We called well in advanced to be sure the room was feather free. In addition, I am a Hilton Honors guest and my profile states that I require a feather free room. We drove 4 hours to NYC, and had to wait 1/2 hour after checking in because our "room […] was not feather free ready." Disappointing. We were tired and had to get ready for a Metropolitan Opera performance and dinner before--so we were rushed. Also, I could not believe that it cost for an 8 oz. bottle of water was more than what I have paid for T-shirts--outrageous. Beds were EXTRA, EXTRA comfortable. Lisateave

I loved my stay! The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The staff was so friendly and helpful! The hotels history had me in awe! I loved just walking around looking at the pictures on the walls, and the lobby was nothing short of magnificent! Everyone must stay here at least once!!!!

Booked a room with a queen size bed for my birthday. First night out in the city without the kids. Arrived at the hotel and they only had a room with two double beds. I asked for a room with one larger bed, but they said that they had none. Find it hard to believe because they have 1416 rooms. So much for our romantic getaway. Called customer support […] and they could not help. They recommended talking to the hotel directly. The Waldorf recommended a free upgrade for my next stay. There will not be a next stay. The shower would not heat up. Try another hotel. The Waldorf did not live up to its reputation. Lisateave

I have some questions about service in that nice hotel with superb location... Room and bathroom were clean, but bathroom was outdated, with no water pressure, and quite difficult water temp adjustment... In room was cold, especially after window was open by service staff so we were freezing one night... But because of location and very nice reception […] I would recommend that hotel anyway... I did not like getting the bill for minibar, which we did not use, but it was solved quite easy, I hope... But one thing still bother me - I had 2 bookings in that hotel one from April18 to April 22 for room type Deluxe queensize-bed and another one for 1 night April 17 for room type Superior King which costs at least double price of Deluxe, but we ve got Deluxe for 5 nights without mention it and no reduction in price... The rooms (at least ours) are in serious need of an update. Broken soap dish, leaky tub filler, peeling wallpaper, TV selection and reception poor. Certainly not worth the price paid. They seem to be trying to get by on their history. On the plus side, room service breakfast was prompt and very good.

My 15-yr-old daughter and I had a wonderful overnight stay at the Waldorf. The registration staff and everyone we encountered in the lobby were warm, sincere, and so, so welcoming. The only negative was when we came back to the hotel after the Broadway show and wanted to get a little sumpin'-sumpin' before going to the room. Peackock Alley was not serving […] food any more, at 10:45, so we ordered two hot chocolates. But for some reason none of the waiters wanted to take our table. It took forever to get someone to take the order, and I witnessed the hostess arguing with two different waiters about coming to our table. They were both refusing, or at least being very uncooperative. Was it the teenager, so they knew we weren't gonna be ordering multiple rounds of pricey drinks? We finally got our $9 hot chocolates but it did put a damper in my return to this iconic hotel, after over 30 years. Lisateave

I was upgraded to a suite which that was old and smelled musty. The hallways smelt musty. Personnally I think I was "updgraded" to avoid giving me a renovated regular room when they saw that I had booked through hotels.com I will no go back to that hotel nor will I recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful experience at this beautiful hotel. Great friendly, very professional service. Booked a deluxe queen, was upgraded to a room with two doubles upon arrival. Room plenty spacious, clean, soundproof (never heard neighbors). Located in an upscale neighborhood.
