The price per night is great but where you get hit is with the parking. Parking $24 or $30 Valet. Staff was friendly and Hotel was peaceful. Room was ok but could be a bit bigger. Bed was really really comfortable though. Only gripe was that my bathroom door was hard to close and a couple bulbs were out. Ordered room service and staff filled my order […] pretty quickly which was nice. Overall stay was satisfactory and I would stay there again in the future. Lisateave

I chose to stay at the Kyoto because I needed a room with two queen beds. Most downtown hotels only have two double beds. The room rate was very reasonable and the beds are AMAZING! So comfortable! I would highly recommend this hotel - there is a Starbucks on the corner and you can self park for 24.00. It is going to be a DoubleTree soon.

The value of this hotel far exceeded the rate. I didn't expect it to be quite so nice since the establishment is currently going through a remodel to become a doubletree by Hilton, within this year. I'm not sure if the price point or the gardens will stay once it changes over but hopefully it will. Walked around little Tokyo where they have plenty of […] little shops, bakeries and FOODFOODFOOD. The area wasn't upscale but I didn't feel unsafe either. It was far enough away from the hubub of downtown but close enough walk to anything you may need. I would stay again. We went to the little bar inside and had great service also the front desk was more than helpful. We had no problem getting a late checkout either. Lisateave

The bathroom was in desperate need of a make over. Water and rust stained ceiling. $24 to park over night is a little over the top.

I stayed here since the bar i was going to that night was a short walk (3minute walk with my GF walking in heels) and that was way better than driving back home, hung out in Little Tokyo b4 our outing since it was literally around the corner from the lobby. Driven by this area for years but never took the time to wander around and i must say it was […] a nice experince. The garden in the Hotel was awesome i had no idea it was even there until i looked down from my room window, perfect little walk b4 checkout. Lisateave

My room was confortable, but it looks a little run down. the furniture is chiped and old. The small refrigerator on the floor was tacky...other than that everyting was fine. Restroom was exceptional

The staff was incredible. I think I chose a bad time to stay here though. They are remodeling. All of the soda and and snack machines had been removed (There is nothing open within walking distance at 2am) so I survived the night on tap water. I was also woken up at 8am by the sound of electric saws and nil guns either on the floor above or below me. […] I will definitively stay here again, but I will wait till the remodel is finished Lisateave

The Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens is definately an American style hotel with wounderful Japanese gardens on the third floor under the sky. Very Beautiful. Service was great and definately a place I will book again.

The parking fee of $24. a day was outrageous. Other than that it was fine.

I hope they keep the decor and staff. It was a really nice surprise to see the classy hotel for the price we paid in LA... Park across the street for $5.00 valet a little expensive. Great Job.. will be back

Nice hotel, nice staff, would stay again.

Booked a room at the Kyoto since it was an estimated 3 minute walk from a bar i was going out to that night. The stay was pleasant, reallly friendly staff the lobby was pretty cool, and i only had to pay $10 for sellf parking since i booked thru this site instead of the $24 the Hotel usually charges.

This hotel needs to be updated badly. The bed was extremely comfortable, but that was the only benefit I could find. All the furniture in the room was dusty, absolutely disgusting. The bathroom was clean, but extremely outdated. For the price we paid, I was expecting something a little nicer than a plastic faucet handle. There was essentially no water […] pressure when I took a shower. At the end of the day, I would never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone I know. Lisateave

This hotel is being rebranded as a Doubletree later this year. It is in a wind-down mode and the whole place is about indifference. Giving this 3 stars is charitable. The place needs a full renovation. There are odd things missing -- like no ironing board in the room (you have to call for it).

I know they are changing this hotel to a Hilton but I don't think it is worth the money I paid for the night. And $24 for parking is just plain wrong!!!! It should have been included in the price of the room!! And not having free internet is wrong too!!!

Great location. Just a few min away from LA Live/Staples Center. They even had a shuttle that ran until 10:30 pm that took you back and forth to Downtown attractions. The staff was friendly and even upgraded our room! I will stay here again!

The lobby looked old and tired and the rooms were clean but dated. The bathroom was tiny and about 20 years old. The tv was a 15 year old 24 inch box and every one of the 24 channels available had terrible reception. I asked the desk to fix this or give me another tv and they never did. The internet, which cost $9.95, was too slow to be useful. I asked […] at the desk and was told they were having problems and would refund my $9.95. At the desk I overheard a conversation about the hotel having been acquired by Hilton and there would be changes. Hotel.com should have known this as well as the overall terrible quality of this hotel. I later saw a sheet at the front desk confirming that the hotel was being renamed and partially renovated. This is one of the hotel in the area I always stay wherever I am in LA. The room is nice and clean but small. There are 2 metro stations nearly by, easy to go anywhere. The area is safe to hang around at night. A lot of good japanese restaurant in the area.

The Kyoto Grand was all that we needed. Comfortable and close to the Museum of Modern Art and City Hall and Japanese Museum (although the latter is unfortunately closed on Mondays). I appreciated the free internet access downstairs. The staff were very helpful. We had an enjoyable dinner via roomservice.

I have stayed in this hotel three times in the last month and it's time to look for something different. The rooms are hit & miss. Last week my refrigerator made so much noise that I unplugged it after the first night. Unfortunately the frig was covering the dripping sound in the a/c vent that I endured for the next two nights. I used to enjoy the casual […] lounge in the evening...the main TV is now stuck on channel 9 for you to enjoy Family Feud and Dr. Phil over dinner. Food has become hit & miss too. I usually order the flatbread but last time it was deformed & burnt. I guess that made up for the cold (supposed to be hot) sandwich I received the night before. Its nice to have the hotel shuttle available IF it shows up to pick you up. I have waited over an hour on two occasions Just checked in again... Room is completely different from the first two and the bed is soooo hard and the A/C is blowing warm air It's going to be a LONG two nights. I guess there is no special treatment for returning guests. Lisateave

My family and I were on our way to Las Vegas so we had a stopover for the night. Stay was pleasant and comfortable. Close to shops in Little Tokyo.

I feel the price was a little to high for the quality of the room. hotel in general was good condition however I was very disapointed to see that in the bathroom the bathtub floor was open due to water coming from the shower, causing mold and a really bad aspect. Seems that is something bigger that must be fixed soon. Room was good I stayed in better […] hotels for less price in different occasions , I definetely won´t stay again or recomend this to anyone. (1) Hotels.com booking showed $10 parking, but front desk said $24. At the end agreed with $10, but as if doing me a favor. (2) Hotels.com booking showed 2 double beds but front desk gave me a room with only one bed. Had to come back down from 14th floor to change for another room at 11 PM.

Everything was fine, except the hotel did not grant the parking rate of $10 and charged me $24. Not good!

okay location, seen better days, nice staff, BUT, internet is awful and expensive. First, didn't work, second, if did, was expensive. Fixing this one issue would result in me staying here on business trips...for now, no way that I'll stay there again.

The Kyoto Grand is a beautiful property that makes you feel like you are somewhere between Japan and LA. The amenities are luxurious, rooms are spacious, staff is friendly, and a great value in my opinion. Don't expect a brand new hotel, it's in a location that can't allow that, it is however kept very clean (like Japan) and maintained well. Of course, […] there are always little things that go wrong somewhere... their driveway ramp that goes to their underground parking is VERY steep. I drive a sports car that is a little low and the carbon fiber front lip did not enjoy getting smashed into the floor. I'm sure the valets would have just destroyed it if I threw them the keys. The parking is expensive, but it is under the property so likely much safer than outside. I had a slight issue with my room door, the key would not open the door and it took them about 30 minutes to resolve it. I would have expected them to just switch rooms and resolve the issue on their time... but they didn't. Ok, back to the good stuff... the lobby bar is nice, whoever is in charge needs to learn that a scotch enjoyed neat does NOT get a set of straws. The bartender knew but said he had to put the straws in. The garden upstairs is great for sitting and enjoying a drink with music during the week. The location is prime, couldn't ask for better. I also enjoy the Miyako down the street but wanted to try something different. Lisateave

Truly enjoyed my one night stay at the Kyoto Grand. As a transvestite, I went to the hotel to transform. But there was a problem with the bathroom lighting. It was too dark to really put on my makeup correctly. If I return I will make sure that I bring along my lights and mirror to do my makeup correctly. I will be back in a much higher upgraded room […] though. Lisateave

Good hotel. Excellent locaton when travelling with AMTRAK

couldn't get hot water, when we taking shower we both catched cold,,, but I sure appreciate that they let us into the room way earlier than check in time.

! was a little dubious about the hotel having read good and bad reviews on various websites. I found it superior to many other hotels with similar ratings. All staff were helpful and even though under pressure from two weddings and other functions continued to smile and give excellent service. Bedroom very comfortable despite noise from air conditioning […] units in building opposite!!! I would definitely recommend the hotel. Lisateave

Convenient location if you want Japanese restaurant and groceries. Lobby and public areas are well maintained but I can't say the same for the room we stayed in. The bathroom needs to be updated and there were no open outlets to plug in my laptop or to charge my phone. We had to push the bed out of the way to find the 1 open outlet available the rest […] were tucked behind the TV armoire and too hard to get to. Really old tv too by the way. Wifi isn't free but I think that's the same for most downtown locations. Beds were clean and comfortable and we had a good view of the city from the 8th floor. I would stay there again for the location and the bed but the lack of outlets was really disappointing. Lisateave

It wasn't awful but it wasn't stellar. The room was much smaller than I thought it would be. The hotel is close to the freeway but b/c it's is downtown LA, there isn't much going on, esp. on weekends. Mostly everything is closed on Sundays. One day I had the "do not disturb" sign up. I received a call from housekeeping asking if I would like my room […] cleaned. I said yes and gave them a time I would not be in the room. They never came. Apparently, the hotel is going to become a Doubletree which I think is a good idea. Overall, it was a fine experience. Wasn't thrilled. Lisateave

Great location in Little Tokyo! I love being able to take the train and walk to the hotel, and be just one stop from Union Station. Service is wonderful, but my bathroom wasn't totally spotless - there was an old bar of soap in the soapdish, and it's time for them to upgrade their TV's. Still otherwise put together well and always a good deal.
