I usually avoid the large hotels but I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the room, the amenities, and the efficiency of the staff. My room had... a minibar and an electric water heater for in-room tea or coffee. The bed mattress was typically european (dense and on the firm side, but not uncomfortable,) the pillows were slightly lifeless and hard. The room was very quiet and clean. The bathroom was fine, but had no washcloths, or hair conditioner. The breakfast that was included in the price had a good variety of breads, cereal, fruits, vegetables, cheese, scrambled eggs and breakfast meats. The room service was fast and reasonable. The location, directly across from the Garibaldi Train Station, was one of the best things about this hotel. It was easy for cab drivers to find and within walking distance to lots of sights in Milan. The Corso Como shopping district is virtually next door with all it's shops, restaurants, and galleries. It's a twenty to thirty minute direct walk to the Duomo area, but there are lots of interesting shops along the way, so it took us longer. Being a little further out from the central tourist sights of Milan gave us a feel for the way people live in Milan. The best part of the hotel is value for the money.
