Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa - Stamford

We needed a place to stay before an appointment in NYC the next day. This hotel in Stamford CT was close enough to get to NYC the next morning, but far enough away that the price was reasonable. The room was clean and comfortable, room service was excellent. Very nice hotel. Oh, and one of the most comfortable beds I can remember sleeping in.

I was treated rudely by every single employee at this hotel from the moment I checked in, to the security guard telling me to keep it down tonight as I was stepping on the elevator. I understand it's a "business" hotel, but I've never been so looked down on as I entered any establishment. I will never stay at this hotel again, management should be  […] evaluated. Lisateave

Hotel was very nice. The room was clean but had a strong disinfectant smell to it. I was very satisfied overall and would stay again.

This was our third time staying at this hotel. We were here for a specific event and the hotel was extremely accommodating -- from early check in to late check out. Across the street is a beautiful shopping mall with great places to eat for all price points. Looking forward to next year.

We often travel for business and try to stay in Marriott product when possible. The Stamfor Marriott was centrally located to our appointments in Westport, Darien and Greenwich. Very helpful and friendly staff, especially Erika at the front desk, who helped with a minor glitch with parking, and did it immediately and with a smile. Of special note, Helena […] made us feel like old friends in Northern Lights Lounge - which is an upscale, comfortable place for a light meal and/or nightcap. Staff also made restaurant suggestions, and the hotel's free shuttle was a plus -dropped us at a local Mexican Restaurant, Riveria Maya, which was excellent. Our server, Joshua made wonderful suggestions, and we enjoyed our meal very much. We were also picked up promptly by the hotel shuttle, and the driver was courteous and friendly. If business again should take us to the area, we will be sure to stay at Stamford Marriott again and highly recommend this hotel for travelers to the area. Lisateave

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room was spacious, clean, and had a good view. This is a terrific place for a quick weekend getaway, even if you are simply looking to spend a night away from your responsibilities at home. Two good restaurants across the street. Great experience at a very reasonable price.

The location was great with the mall just across the street. The lobby is nice but check-in; very slow. Elevator needs help. Rooms are small. Bathrooms are smaller. Desk chair was broken.Internet is $10 per day. Valet parking is $18 per day. We paid $10 extra per person per day for breakfast on Hotels.com but the front desk would not initially honor […] this. I had to dig up our confirmation on my laptop and show it to them. But it ended up being a bargain. Buffet was $17.99 pp +tx without the voucher. Next time we will stay at the Marriot in town. That looked like a fun neighborhood. Lisateave

Really liked this Marriot. The hotel was very well kept, clean & comfortable. They had a terrific gym and a nice, albeit small, pool. Perfect for a dip after running on the treadmill. Convenient location for Stamford. Nice amenties at a mall across the street (bars/restaurants). Overall this was a great hotel and I will likely stay here again.

After a long, weary day of travel across country, it was so refreshing to stand under the rain-shower to freshen up before my evening meeting.

I stayed at this hotel 3 years ago, and had a horrible experience (hotel fire!)... so, I was rather leery to stay here again. But, the hotel is MUCH cheaper with much better facilities than similar hotels in Manhattan. And it's walking distance to the Metro North (hour ride to Grand Central). This stay was excellent. The hotel staff were nice and accommodating, […] the facilities were clean and modern, the restaurant was delicious (get the veggie burger at Sams), and there was no hotel fire :) I would, without a doubt, stay here next time I'm in the NYC area for leisure. Great weekend value- shame about the car parking costs, and no free wifi in rooms- but overall very nice

Pros: We checked into the Marriott Hotel and Spa exhausted from our long trip. We were greeted with kindness and respect. The room was a Deluxe room and it was beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was a treat with the overhead shower and the added amenity make up mirror, etc. It is the little things that made it such a nice place to stay. The hotel […] was quiet and our view of the city was enjoyable. I only wish we had more time to stay there to enjoy the revolving restaurant and luxury spas. When checking out, the staff asked how our night stay was and even how our little dog rested. They were very welcoming right to the last minute of our stay. Some cons: everything in the room was a charge: internet, bottled water, cable channels (it would be nice to get a drink of water included in your high hotel fee and if I have my own laptop, shouldn't I be apple to log on a wireless network for free?) High priced spa services- $270 for a massage? ouch! I recommend this hotel but think the hotel chain should think of a way to offer some of the ammenities above to their guests at the hotel cost. I don't mind paying a higher price to stay if I am getting the services. Lisateave

Cheap for a last minute booking. Very convenient location. The staff was fine, neither good nor bad. The shower is designed poorly so the bathroom floor gets soaked. The garage attendant will try to double charge you since you get automatically charged and then he tried to hustle me for $12 cash the doorman says that it is normal for him to do that […] so watch out for that. Would stay there again if necessary but wouldn't look forward to it. Lisateave

This is a dog friendly property...my daughter got a rash all over her, I believe we were in a room stayed in by a pet...I really love this hotel but construction in lobby, and pool...was crowded and some of the staff was stressed...rest has grt food...bartender was very personable and loud, but touches his face and hair whole time we were there, then […] squeezes your lime. This is a nice hotel however the front desk staff was not overly friendly, the parking garage was full so I had to park across the street, and my room was located right next to the elevator (I don't mean "near" I mean in the same alcove that the elevator is...not even located in the hallway, looked like it used to be a janitor closet or storage space.) […] I had to listen to the elevator ALL night long, sounded like a roller coaster was on the other side of the wall (it literally was the other side of the wall!) The room was nice and clean, but I should have asked for a different location....would have if it was more than just one night. Was exhausted the next morning from the loudness of the elevator, they definitely should not have made a room right there, maybe a storage closet instead. Lisateave

Hotel is convienant to downtown

HVAC system was quite loud, as was another loud noise occassionally (don't know what it was)in room 1020.

Attached garage parking (fee); convenient location in downtown Stamford with easy access to I-95 and the train station; limited bathroom products and towels; too much advertisement for the in-house Agora Spa.

The hotel receptionist/reservationist gave me a hard time even though my room was paid for in advance. He required an additional $50.00 credit hold or a $100.00 cash hold to cover any potential accidental occurences. He was not courteous.

Not only was this a fantastic hotel, but the convenience to a mall, the train station was the topping on the cake! The hotel was spotless, updated furnishings, comfortable, spacious and friendly staff. The amenities were superb! I would stay at this hotel again and again! thanks for a great stay,

Great hotel, clean, comfortable... I would definitely stay there again...! We stayed there when we visited NYC and the hotel is so conveniently located, only 1-2 minutes from the highway that takes you straight there! it was perfect...no complaints!

very convenient to train, shopping and downtown

Quite a nice building, lobby and facilities, Breakfast was good, parking easy and generally very comfortable. The problem is the staff, or some of them, who have little idea how to treat Hotel Guests. Reception was not very unhelpful, room staff were unfriendly and the pre-paid Breakfast experience was largely about up-selling and tips. Recommended […] but with some reservations Lisateave

I thought my stay would be relaxing and fun. I found upon checking it would be just the opposite. Poor service from the MANAGMENT STAFF along with the front desk personnel except one African American young man. All are on the evening staff. They were unprofessional to the highest standard and topped it off by saying WHATEVER. The person that said WHATEVER […] was the manager in charge of the staff, a young lady. Again the entire evening staff, with the exception of one, was truely a surprising and disappointing group of people. It's as if they were never given any type of professional training, by Marroitt Corporation. It would be a diservice to the public to continue with the managment staff of the evening crew. I don't intend to let this go. Our family and friends were there for my brothers homegoing celebration services on the Long Island Sound. Lisateave

This is a typical "big Marriott hotel," not a Courtyard by Marriott. The hotel is what you would expect and nothing to write home about. Overall it is a decent value. One major complaint is that our mattress was overly worn; we sank down in the same spot hundreds of others must have sank down in. Another is that the food in the hotel is not that good. […] Yet there are many good restaurants nearby. I would stay ther again if the Courtyard was full, but not otherwise. Lisateave

Check in was difficult. Despite being presented with a Hotels.com confirmation show that I had booked 2 nights with breakfast, the desk staff person insisted that I had booked by Expedia and my rate did not include breakfast. It took almost 25 minutes of heated conversation to get this resolved. While I suppose that it is possible that in the electronic […] world that Hotels.com uses Expedia to place its order, it was abolutely clear that the rate I prepaid included Breakfast. Most annoying! I stayed here overninght on a weekend as a stop over on my way to Cape Cod. Very pleased with the hotel, staff and service... an excellent value. Property is nicely updated and maintained. Not usually a fan of large chain hotels but I honestly could not find fault and the weekend rate was fantastic. Easy access to I95. Would stay here again if passing […] thru. Lisateave

Very nice hotel...Will stay there again

We stayed in Stamford and metroed in to NYC. It was a great idea very cost effective, safe and satisfying. My only complaint is that the shuttle from the metro always wanted us to go to the taxi side and it was hard to find.

Our hotel stay was pleasant for the most part. The receiving doormen were great, including the bell captain. The young lady at the front desk seemed to struggle with managing multiple guests & priorities at the same time. I asked her to please call security to valet park my car, which had been paid for up front. She took her time, and had to be reminded […] a second time. The ATM machine in the lobby was Out of Service, and not working. No one had put an Out of Service sign on the machine, which could have saved time & inconvenience. Lisateave

"Great service ... and then some" is the only way I can express the attitudes I experienced at this Marriott. Wonderful management and employees; each person I encountered - from the front desk to housekeeping - went the extra mile. Reception to check out my experience was one of professional, friendly services. Generous size room accommodation, attractive renovated Lobby and restaurant areas. I would return.

The hotel itself was very comfortable and clean and the staff was very friendly and available. The restaurant seemed to be short handed and the wait for service was long. Limited menu. Would suggest going out to nearby restaurants for dinner.

Great location, a super-comfortable and beautiful room and an incredible brunch added up to a winning New Year's experience. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to our friends' New Year's house party. The room was so great and the TV so high-end that we hated to leave for the evening. The beds were marvelous and we awakened late, so a thoughtful […] late checkout allowed us to sample the hotel's brunch (not included). The service and food were well worth the extra charge. It was quick and easy to get back to the Parkway towards NYC. But we can''t wait to return.. Lisateave

Great place to stay with wife or business. Sixty minutes out of NYC, Metro across the street. Beds were a little to comfy, and warm, did not want to get out . Go and enjoy but please remember it is Stamford and you will pay NYC prices for everything.

The room had a smell of body odor to it. Not happy that I had to pay for parking too.
