The good news: the hotel staff were fabulous in terms of their service level. Some of the best I've had anywhere. Also, the location near the beach is hard to beat for the price, although being right on Sepulveda - a six lane road - had its moments. Brunch was also good. Because from all the reviews, we expected a fairly up-to-date hotel, with some maintenance required. I enjoyed this hotel. The room was spacious, neat, and clean, and the hotel public spaces (lobby, courtyard, pool) were relaxing as well. It is something different than the majority of the chain hotels in the overall LAX vicinity. I was lucky I didn't have a car, because there is a $20 charge to park here (which I do not endorse). You will also spend […] $20 for a cab from here to the airport though, so you're out $20 either way... It's about a 30-minute walk to the beach and Manhattan Beach restaurants, but it's through a very attractive and seemingly safe neighborhood, and there is a sweet mulch trail as an alternative to the sidewalk. We really enjoyed our time there. It was 5 minutes to the beach by car. Pretty well located to get to LAX and to most of the sites. Quick access to Interstates. We had a balcony overlooking the courtyard area. TV was nice size. My one want from the TV was the lack of Pay-per-view movies. Minor thing though. Staff was pleasant, but wasnt real helpful […] when it came to finding out about touristy stuff. We will definitely go again. Lisateave

We arrived late and had to leave early so were not able to see te entire facility. Hotel lived up to its rating. Staff was very gracious and helpful. Only criticism is there were not many TV stations and not HD.

the Belmar was very busy this particular weekend,the staff was as nice and as helpful and friendly the only downer was the faint sewage odor on the 1st floor hallway and inside of our bathroom. I think they had had a recent septic tank problem which was unfortunate we closed the door leading to/from the bathroom and it wasn't as bad. the odor disapated […] by the next morning. we enjoyed our stay otherwise. nice place! My "home away from home" - Although the hotel has changed hands 2 times in the last 3 years, the staff has maintained consistency. Always friendly and accommodating. The new owner, Pacifica, has changed the bathroom amentities from Molton Brown to a "no name" - and i have asked them to upgrade this. I'll let you know what happens - so far -nothing.

I have stayed here a few times. Maybe the prior stays I was just too rushed and didn't notice how well things were done, or maybe things changed. At any rate, I was completely impressed. After a long conference in San Diego I had to head to LA for meetings. A one night stay then out. I was exhausted. Called ahead and Ethan hooked up a massage for me […] upon arrival. Got in a little early and had an excellent shrimp roll snack and drink in the 2nd Story restaurant. Got up early and thoroughly enjoyed the inexpensive breakfast buffet. The entire time service was FANTASTIC! Nice jog on the greenbelt which is right by the hotel, and took a nice walk to restaurants in Manhattan Beach for my lunch meeting. The only annoying thing was the guy on the phone during breakfast talking for all to hear. We all do deals buddy. Take your call somewhere else so I can enjoy my fresh-made waffle w fruit and read the paper! Of course, this was not the hotel's fault! Lisateave

Unfortunately more negative then positive. The hotel requires that valet parks all cars (per town requirement) but in turn charges for parking. 1 valet on duty at our check in (10 p.m.) but 4 cars waiting. Valet/doorman offered assistance with bags (5). 5 minutes later we found our things on the car unattended in the lobby area (computers included). […] He had gone back outside to park cars! The room was very clean, but old and tired (including carpet). Front desk people in/out were just average for friendliness. Easy access to main roads and airport. Won't stay here again. Lisateave

We enjoyed our overnight stay at The Belamar, considering we were there for a fneral service for a family member. Unfortunately, we purchased the upgrade room for an additional price, but we didn't get the upgrade, and the only reason I know that for a fact is that a family member stayed in another room that was just like ours, except a little bigger. […] My husband is quiet the inquisitive type, so he also checked it out/peeped in on rooms that had been vacated and were being cleaned by the housekeepers in the morning : ( Lisateave

Absolute perfection. My stay was perfect. The staff were great, food amazing and room was comfortable and beautiful. My only 2 small complaints were the noise level coming from the room next to us, very loud. And the heater made a very annoying ticking sound all night. Wanted to get away from LA but only had one night to do it and didn't want to spend alot being so close to christmas. This was a great place for us! Room was small but very cozy. The front desk found out it was anniversary and surprised us with chocolate & strawberries and sparkling wine. Cute court yard with couches and outdoor jacuzzi & pool. Jacuzzi […] was great but too cold for the pool. The only thing we didn't like was valet parking was manitory. Close drive to the beach and restaurants that are walking distants. The hotel also has a restaurant & bar but we didn't try it. Very happy! We would go back again! Lisateave

Had a great stay over the Thanksgiving Holiday with my family. Belamar was the perfect place while in town. Staff is friendly, Second Story has great food and service and the location is perfect proximity to downtown Manhattan and my parents house. I will be back!

Casual, comfortable accommodations good for business or leisure. Staff was friendly, onsite restaurant looked pretty good but I did not eat there. Location is near airport, but not close to the actual beach. Valet parking is $10 and required. A little frustrating to wait sometimes.

We had a great stay at the Belamar, unfortunately the A/C heat unit in the room was extremely loud which caused us to need to turn it off to sleep. We did raise the issue with the hotel, maintanence came, but stated that the noise was normal. So our second night we needed to turn off the unit again.

Yeah the pictures are really cool and the hotel itself was pretty upkept but the rooms are a ton smaller than what they look. The bathroom door misses the counter/sink area by less than half an inch. They upgraded my room to the balcony rooms but got a view of a wall, the walls were super thin so we were awaken at 7 am every morning. To me this hotel […] was overpriced the only thing I really enjoyed was the fitness room and the pool area was cute too. Comfy bed as well! We also found a HUUUUGE spiderweb in our window sill. ICK. The atmosphere was a little too "hip" for my taste, but it was overall a great experience. I was also nervous that it would be very noisy on the corner of Sepulveda and Rosecrans, but it wasn't at all. Very good hotel for the money.

I was trapped in LA due to Hurricane Sandy and chose the Belamar because of its proximity to LAX. What a find. The hotel is small enough to have character while offering all the amenities of a larger chain. Hotel staff treated me with great personal interest and care. We arrived at the Belmar late, after a lot of driving and traffic. Jackson quickly checked us in, offered water and was totally hospitable. The hotel was lovely, the patio was pretty and a class reunion was taking place, so there was a festive atmosphere. We loved it! We walked (long walk) to the Ocean and took a cab home, then we enjoyed a nice sleep. […] In the morning Jackson informed us that our credit card had been declined the night before, but he didn't want to bother us. We had pre-paid and we were so tired. I was so surprised, but relieved that we didn't have any real need for our card as we didn't make any use of the phone or any other services at the hotel. Jackson made our day, his outstanding service and support was so exemplary and he allowed me the time to call the credit card company and clear up their concerns. We hadn't used the card in months and then began using it for travel in another state, so the company had blocked it for security reasons. Thanks to Jackson we unblocked it and all was well. Jackson was the bomb. Stay at this hotel, and enjoy top notch care and service. You'll love it! Lisateave
